COASTAL BUOY TENDER PETIT VESSEL TYPE: 175 FT. Coastal Buoy Tender ENGINE: CAT 3406 LOCATION: Ketchikan, Alaska CENTER SECTION OVERHAUL PER US COAST GUARD SPECIFICATIONS In 1996, the US Coast Guard commissioned the CGC Anthony Petit, a coastal buoy tender that serves in a variety of missions ranging from navigation aid, search & rescue, law enforcement, marine safety inspections and ice breaking operations. The 175 foot CGC joined the Coast Guard’s 17th District located in Ketchikan, Alaska in November 1999. The CGC was built with state of the art electronics and navigation systems including a dynamic & global positioning system and electronic chart displays. This allows the vessel to maneuver and position aids more accurately and efficiently. The CGC is one of fourteen buoy tenders that have been equipped with Z-drive propulsion units that are designed to independently rotate 360 degrees and give the vessel unmatched maneuverability. Older buoy tenders were built with standard propeller and rudder configurations. January 2013, the CGC Anthony Petit was in need of some major overhaul work to the ships three diesel generator CAT 3406 engines. The Coast Guard called Bay Diesel to perform the engine work. Bay Diesel sent three of their veteran technicians to Alaska to dismantle, diagnose, rebuild and test the ships service diesel generators. The scope of work performed by Bay Diesel’s technicians consisted of rebuilding several turbos, upgrading the cylinder packs, replacing the lower end bearings’ and reconditioning the cam shaft. The whole job from start to finish took less than a month to complete. The engines were tested and confirmed under USCG specification for proper operation. MARINE www.baydiesel.com

In 1996, the US Coast Guard commissioned the CGC Anthony Petit, a coastal

buoy tender that serves in a variety of missions ranging from navigation aid,

search & rescue, law enforcement, marine safety inspections and ice

breaking operations. The 175 foot CGC joined the Coast Guard’s 17th District

located in Ketchikan, Alaska in November 1999.

The CGC was built with state of the art electronics and navigation systems

including a dynamic & global positioning system and electronic chart

displays. This allows the vessel to maneuver and position aids more accurately

and efficiently. The CGC is one of fourteen buoy tenders that have been

equipped with Z-drive propulsion units that are designed to independently

rotate 360 degrees and give the vessel unmatched maneuverability. Older

buoy tenders were built with standard propeller and rudder configurations.

January 2013, the CGC Anthony Petit was in need of some major overhaul

work to the ships three diesel generator CAT 3406 engines. The Coast Guard

called Bay Diesel to perform the engine work. Bay Diesel sent three of their

veteran technicians to Alaska to dismantle, diagnose, rebuild and test the

ships service diesel generators. The scope of work performed by Bay Diesel’s

technicians consisted of rebuilding several turbos, upgrading the cylinder
