Activities of the 4rth term2014 / 2015

POLAND

1) Implementation of the Latvian proposal for an innovative teaching method.

The Latvian innovative teaching method was taken during English extra classes with students from II and III grades of middle school . First, the students saw the film about the Latvian Song and Dance Festival. Then, they had lexical exercise based on the lyrics of the song –My song. Next, they were asked to express their impressions about the film and the song from the presentations. We managed also to design few Crowns with the Latvian symbols. Students were really impressed by the film.

I wish we had such a festival in Poland (almost every student wrote this)

One girl even wrote -I wish we had such a festival in Poland or at least the Latvians could borrow us it for one year

I would like to listen to such a concert on live, with such a big number of choirs

The festival and the song are very moving/ I was moved after watching.

After watching this film I had the impression that Latvians love their country, culture and they are very proud of it. Looking back at the history of Latvia, I think that music and those performances helped them to survive hard times and sustain their national identity

…on one hand it’s a great fun, on the other a deep moving experience

The festival is impressive, It’s beautiful that Latvians respect so much their culture

I think the festival is great! There are many colours and designs. There are many people who create art. I think the presentation can’t show us the real beauty of this festival – only if you experience this concert on live you will see it.

2). Teddy Bears travels around the world.

Our Teddy Bear visited many our students who shared with this experience with us in the diary.As the cold days are coming in Poland, our Teddy was equipped with a warm cap and a scarf.

3).European garden

Last year we divided the seeds into two groups: primary school group and middle school group. The students from III grade of middle school planted the plants in spring and they looked after them during summer holidays at their homes. Therefore, we still can admire our European Garden at our school.

4). Students’ communication (Poland -Greece).

Our communication has just started. Students from 6th grade of primary school and the ones from 2nd grade of middle school managed to send emails to 10 students in Greece. Now they are waiting for reply. Students from O grade and 1st grade drew themselves .Their works will be exchanged with the works of Greek students during the Comenius project meeting.

5). Updating the Comenius website

In this term we managed to update our Comenius website with the information what we have done so far.

6. European Festival – Comenius Day 2014

In our school as you now we have European Club. Every year we try to organize (around the Europe Day -9th May)- European Festival. In our last report I wrote that we started preparations to this festival. This year this school event was connected with our Comenius project so we add it the second name - Comenius Day 2014. The festival is in fact the competition between the classes from primary and middle school. There were three stages. First the classes chose the name of the Comenius country. Next, they prepared the classroom (you can admire their works at their classrooms, some of them are from the Comenius Day)- which were scored. The second stage -European Festival – Comenius Day 2014 took place on 27th May 2014 on the school playground. Every Class prepared a stall with the information of the country, posters and traditional food. They also dressed in costumes connected with the chosen country. The third stage- Euro Test. The representatives of the class wrote the short test about all the Comenius countries and European Union. After three stages we counted all the points and we introduced the winners who won the special Euro Cup .This year Greece won in primary and middle school

The festival appeared to be the great success. It involved all classes and united the whole school .There was also a presentation of films and pictures from three Comenius meetings in 2014 for all the students.
