    T%"OR1

CNC is the short .orm .or Computer Numerica* Contro*! The CNC machine

comprises o. the mini computer or the microcomputer that acts as the contro**er unit

    o. the machine!

-n CNC machines the program o. instructions is .ed direct*y into the computer

2ia a sma** board simi*ar to the traditiona* 0eyboard! The program is stored in the

memory o. the computer! The programmer can easi*y 3rite the codes and edit the

programs as per the re4uirements! These programs can be used .or di..erent parts/ andthey don5t ha2e to be repeated again and again!

The main purpose o. these machines is to remo2e some o. the meta* so as to

gi2e it proper shape such as round/ rectangu*ar/ etc! -n the CNC machines the ro*e o.

the operators is minimi6ed! The operator has to mere*y .eed the program o.

instructions in the computer/ *oad the re4uired too*s in the machine/ and rest o. the

3or0 is done by the computer automatica**y!

Too*s that can be contro**ed in this manner inc*ude *athes/ mi**s/ routers and

grinders! A computer program is customi6ed .or an object and the machines areprogrammed 3ith CNC machining *anguage 7ca**ed 89code that essentia**y contro*s

computer can contro* e)act positioning and 2e*ocity! CNC machine a*so has its

    appropriate programmab*e accessories/ some e)amp*es o. 3hich are machining

    centres/ automatic too* changer/ spind*e speed and acti2ation/ Coo*ant etc!

    Ad2antages

    a! Accuracy

;hen programmed correct*y/ CNC machines produce parts to ma)imise

    accuracy/ pro2ide good positiona* accuracy and repeatabi*ity/ pro2ide a high

degree o. 4ua*ity because o. their accuracy and their abi*ity to reuse programs!

    b! Simp*icity

CNC machines are not a** that di..icu*t to use once you *earn ho3!

    c! Time

Using CNC machines e..ecti2e*y reduces the amount o. time ta0en!

    a! Cost

Costs 4uite a *ot more than con2entiona* machinery and does not
