He directs Common Humanity, a non-profit based in New York City, which works to build understanding, respect and friendship between Americans and the Middle East and Arab world. More at CommonHumanity.org. He is a deacon in Manhattan Mennonite Fellowship. Bethany Fish Fry April 26, 4:30 8 p.m. Bethany Christian High School’s junior class fish fry is 4:30-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 26. Come for an evening of fellowship, homemade pie, and all the fish you can eat. Tickets are $12 for adults and carryout and $6 for children grades 1-6 (Kindergarten and younger eat free). Carryout window opens at 4:00. Tickets may be purchased from any Bethany junior or at the school (2904 S Main St, Goshen). Maple Syrup Festival Olive Mennonite Church Gunawans’ Fundraiser April 26 - 28, 2019 Each year the Maple Syrup Festival is held in downtown Wakarusa. This year the festival will take place on April 26-28. Olive Mennonite Church sells BBQ pork burger sandwhiches, chips, and soda on Friday and Saturday (April 26-27). We try hard each year to cover all expenses ourselves so 100% of the money collected can be donated. Our tent is typically set up on the main street across from the library. We hang banners and cook the burgers fresh on the spot so we should be easy to find. This year the church decided to support the Gunawan family. Many families at Olive know Chika and her family personally so it just made sense to offer them our support during this difficult time. We have talked with Chika so she is aware of the fundraiser. She was also okay sharing this information with the College Mennonite congregation. Our thought was that if people from your church come to the Maple Syrup Festival, they may want to enjoy a pork burger sandwich knowing the proceeds will support the Gunawans.
