CMA CGM JULES VERNE in Malta : The testimonies
On June 1st, the CMA CGM JULES VERNE called Malta, the main CMA CGM mediterranean hub,
before going to Marseilles for its inauguration. During its stay in Malta, collaborators from CMA CGM
Malta agency got the opportunity to visit the flagship. Here are their testimonies and some photos :

During these 14 years working for CMA CGM I had numerous opportunities to board vessels and I must
say that it is always an event to look forward to with excitement as if it was the first time. Boarding the CMA
CGM Jules Verne, the fleet flagship which in addition is the world’s largest vessel, is an occasion that stands
in a league of its own!
Greeted with humble hospitality by Captain Plunian Blot we’ve been shown around the main areas of this sea
colossus. Her vast size coupled with her latest technological breakthroughs, made us taste for a little while “la
vie à bord” on this state-of-the-art engineering marvel. All our team disembarked with heads high and full of
pride in forming part of the CMA CGM family. We deeply wish safe sailing to the CMA CGM Jules Verne and
all those who sail with her!”

I simply could not miss this unique opportunity to go on board the world’s biggest container vessel, the
CMA CGM Jules Verne. I felt so small as we approached this magnificent ship and, upon boarding, I was
overcome by a sense of pride to be working for such a great shipping company as CMA CGM.
This giant of the seas not only boasts of having the largest cargo capacity but it is also equipped with all the
latest in cargo shipping technology and I looked around in awe as we were shown the various sections of the
ship. It was the most unforgettable experience for me and I am grateful to have been given the privilege of
viewing such an amazing vessel. I loved it!! Thank you CMA CGM.”

When I first saw the ship, I felt so proud that I work with CMA CGM, and honored that we have been
given the opportunity to visit the largest ship in the world.
Once on board we were greeted by the captain, and started our tour; first we visited the engine room,
impressive 14 cylinder engine and 2 huge generators, I noticed how clean and organized everything is.
After we headed to the bridge were the captain explained to us the importance of the instruments and charts, I
must say this was the most interesting part of the visit.
Last but not least we visited the F deck were we got an idea of how living on board the ship is.
It has been an amazing experience and thanks again for the opportunity.”
Alexia GRECH
Although this is not my first experience with CMA CGM to go onboard such a big vessel, when I saw
CMA CM JULES VERNE alongside I was still impressed by its huge and magnificent view.
When arriving onboard we were greeted by some of the crew members and Captain François Plunian-Blot took
the lead and guided us through some of the most important areas of this ship. Starting from the control room,
down to the engine room and up to the navigation bridge and on deck where you can actually see all the
operations in front of you. On our way back we also passed by the kitchen and saw the crew preparing their
meal for the day.
Yet again this was a lovely experience and I would like to thank CMA CGM for this great opportunity.”

Having the opportunity to embark onboard our flagship vessel in our fleet, it was truly a dream come true,
the invite itself made me proud to work for CMA CGM. Our visit on CMA CGM JULES VERNE, gave us a
closer look to what goes around in every port, understanding our job and what it really entails.
On board we had the privilege to meet with Capt. PLUNIAN BLOT, who personally escorted us throughout the
visit, explaining in detail every part of the vessel and what was its role on board, starting from the engine room,
up till the bridge where we had a closer look at the operation maneuver of discharging units. Whilst on the
bridge we were greeted by Executive Vice President Ludovic Gerard.”

On the 1st of June 2013, CMA CGM JULES VERNE made her maiden call at the Malta Freeport. This
new building is the third 16,000teu vessel that CMA CGM has deployed on the FAL1 line, an impressive 396
meters long and 54 meters wide!
As I am a newcomer at CMA CGM I was honoured to be offered the opportunity to board this vessel. The

captain gave our group a quick but very interesting tour on the ship. This included the engine room, the
navigation deck and the ship’s office amongst others.
I was utterly impressed by the size of the engine and the technology on board, subsequently the dedication
required by the staff to make everything work efficiently and effectively. It was a once in a life time experience,
which was beyond my expectations!”
