Community Led Planning......is the way forward
• Government White paper: 'Communities in Control: Real People, Real Power’
• NALC, AMT, ACRE, Carnegie and Urban Forum working together to promote Rural to Urban, collective Community-led Planning approaches.
• Toolkits, practitioners and resources already support Parish Plans, Market & Small Towns and New deals for Communities.
• These have covered over 4,000 villages and towns and created community partnerships, empowering local people to date.
Community Led Planning......What is it?
• Local people consider their area in wide ranging consultations, which follow a step by step process, incl help. Facts and local knowledge are used to create a forward plan.
• The knowledge generally results in better solutions. Long lasting Community Partnerships are formed to pursue improvements and schemes with LA and other partners.
• The local bridging has long term benefits and informs Local Authority plans.

Community Led Planning......how could it be improved?
Current Situation: • Fragmented toolkits, data and question sets, leads to confusion,
duplication and dilution of effort.• New initiatives by various agencies are multiplying potential problems
Goal:• Develop a Portfolio of related products, an open modular culture,
collaborative working, a body of expertise and bridging to Local Government
A CLP “Alliance & Framework”
Community Led Planning......how could it be improved?
“ A CLP Alliance & Framework”
• Identify core questions and data and provide a scalable set of toolkits. Fund a best practice guide, training and skills to help communities in a “Family” of approaches.
• Create easy to obtain data, as a Passport to multiple layers and niche requirements. Start in one and expand within the family.
• Partners AMT, ACRE, NALC and others
