This is a shorter newsletter than usual as we will also send out another one next week to update you on any developments for 2017. This year has certainly been a busy one with many great achievements, either individually, as a group or team, or as a whole school. Don’t forget Community Night tonight - students to classrooms at 5.30pm & families to the gym at 6pm.
The past few weeks we have been finalising class placements for next year. It is hoped that students will be able to visit their new classroom on the last day of school to see where there classroom is and to meet the people in their class—this may or may not include their teacher which depends on staffing being completed. Hopefully this will help lower any anxiety students have about their new class next year. Notices will be sent
home that day for parents/carers.
Reports for students in mainstream and special classes will be sent home this
Friday.
HEALTHY EATING POLICY
It is timely to remind everyone of our school’s healthy eating policy. We have a whole school approach to learning, health and wellbeing in relation to food and nutrition which ensures students experience and practise healthy eating. The policy states that effective learning about healthy eating must be supported in all aspects of the learning
environment. This means:
Our canteen only provides food and
drinks according to DECD guidelines
‘Food and nutrition’ is taught in all classrooms as part of the Health and
PE curriculum
Food and drinks are not given as
rewards or treats to students
Food/drinks which are highly processed, energy dense and nutrient poor can only be provided on a
maximum of two occasions a term
Teachers will send a note home if they are having a class party and require children to bring food. Please do not send any other food for sharing without
first talking to your child’s teacher.

Don’t miss out! VACSWIM enrolments
closing soon! Registrations for SA Water’s summer school holiday VACSWIM program are closing fast and families are reminded to book now before it’s too late! More than 13,000 primary school aged children are expected to take part in the summer water safety program at more than 130 pool and beach locations this January. Described as the best value-for-money holiday program with enrolment starting at $30/child, VACSWIM provides children with the opportunity to develop skills and positive experiences in the areas of water safety, confidence and competence in the water, personal survival activities and basic aquatic emergency procedures. Enrolments close December 19 (which is very soon!). Don’t miss out, visit www.vacswimsa.com.au to register your child today!
LIBRARY NEWS Please remember to return all library books and reader books borrowed from Clovelly Park Primary as soon as possible. Look around the house, in the car, in your child's bedroom, wherever you think there may be a book or 2 lurking about the place that needs to be returned. We really appreciate it.
Thank you
Sports News Congratulations to all of the students who played Netball, Soccer and Basketball this year. We had some great games and fantastic results. We also had a number of students try out for SAPSASA sports and a couple who were lucky enough to represent our school and district in their chosen sports. We would like to wish our school Basketball team good luck for their grand final on Monday afternoon. Go Clovelly! Jess Smith PE Teacher
