What are shoes made of? Where does cotton come from? Why do Scottish people wear tartan? What can clothing be made of apart from cotton and wool? How does wool get made into clothing?
We learnt about using a search engine – (Ask Jeeves)
We found some useful information on Encarta
We ‘Presented’ our findings using publisher

topics and the articles and stories we read ‘Tartans are made out of wool. Every
Scottish clan Has their own design. It shows they
are Scottish and which family they belong to. They wear them on special occasions.’

I think this unit worked well because it’s an age appropriate, relevant topic. There were also plenty of resources.
ICT use helped us to work faster, create better quality work, get instant feedback, see things close up, access information easily. It helped lots!
