Objective: To be able describe how climate has changed in the distant and recent past
Past Climates• Key terms:• Climate – The average weather conditions of a place. It must
be measured using an average of at least 30 years of data• Glacials – A long period of time during which the Earth’s
glaciers expanded widely = ICE AGE• Interglacials – A long period of warmer conditions between
glacials• Quaternary Period – The most recent major geological period
of the Earth’s history consisting of the Pleistocene and the Holocene
