CLIMATE AND WEATHER

5 PRIMARYCLIMATE AND WEATHER

THE WEATHERIt is determined by TEMPERATURE, PRECIPITATION AND WIND.

THE WEATHERTemperature is HIGH when it is hot and it is low when it is cold.

PRECIPITATION. The amount of water that falls from clouds. Can be Rain, snow , hail and sleet.

WIND is moving air. Hurricanes are extremely strong.

THE ELEMENTS OF WEATHERThe wind: Moving air makes wind. We measure it with the anemometer. Temperature: Temperatures are high when it is hot and low when it is cold. Precipatation. We measure it with a rain gauge. Atmospheric pressure: This is how much of the airs weight.

THE SEASONSThere are four seasons. SPRING: Begins on 21 March. Many plants flower. SUMMER: Begins on 21 June. Temperatures are HIGH. AUTUMN: begins on 23 September. Temperatures fall. WINTER: Begins on 21 December. Temperatures are low

EARTHS CLIMATE ZONES

POLAR ZONESThey are near the poles and in the mountains. They have low temperaturas all year rounds. The precipitation they get during the year is in the form of snow.

TROPICAL ZONESThey are along the equator. They have high temperaturas, but different precipitations. Jungles, savannahs and deserts are all in tropical areas.

TEMPERATE ZONESThere are two of them on either side of the tropical zone. Their temperaturas are between 0 and 20 C.
