Why financial plan?

Research has shown that the attainment of goals, as well as the sense of progress towards goals, is a source of life satisfaction1. What you receive?

Strategic Advice

✓ provide you with an initial analysis and strategic advice (Statement of Advice) as part of your induction into the CWM Wealth Management Package

✓ provide you with strategic advice as a result of any modification of any strategy or sub-element, identified

during the Annual Progress Meeting process or at any other time, unless the advice is to be scoped as a Special Project.

Annual Progress Meeting

✓ review your financial objectives and situation and discuss any variation

✓ review the strategies that you have in place that are designed to meet your long term financial objectives and review any investment and legislative issues that are likely to affect your strategies

✓ review your progress towards the attainment of your stated objectives ✓ identify any modification of your strategies required due to changes in your objectives and situation

and/or changes in the legislative and investment environment

Ad-hoc Meetings or Discussions ✓ to meet or speak with you as necessary to address matters that require attention

Administration Service

✓ provide you assistance with the completion of relevant documentation, including applications, withdrawals, claims, variations and change of account details.

Liaise with other professionals

✓ as your need demands, to liaise with your other professional advisers, such as an accountant or lawyer, or, if you do not have an existing relationship, to refer you to a CWM Strategic Alliance Partner

What is Extra? For some clients, events will occur or issues will arise of greater complexity that can lead to periods of extended research & strategy development that will impact the cost of advice. A Special Project is a service provided to a Client that is outside the scope of the package as described in the preceding page. Any matter identified as a Special Project will be scoped and priced accordingly and approval will be sought from you prior to proceeding. Indicative matters that could be scoped as a Special Project generally relate to a life event and include, but are not limited to, the following;

• transitioning to retirement;

• death;

• moving to an Aged Care facility;

• restructuring of a business;

• change in relationship status (i.e. divorce/marriage);

• inheritance; and

• relocation overseas. Separating Special Projects from the inclusive service means that you do not share in the cost of providing these additional services to other clients which keeps your fees lower.

What are the fees?

CWM Financial Advisers is a fee based boutique financial planning company. The Fee for the CWM Wealth Management Package is set at 1.10% per annum (inclusive of GST) of your retirement assets. This is subject to a minimum of $6,600 per annum (inclusive of GST). Importantly members of the CWM Wealth Management Package do not pay commission on investment products.

The fee can be paid via: Cheques; BPAY; Debit/Credit card; or deducted from an investment portfolio, monthly in

arrears, on your authority

Where applicable, an additional, and separately identifiable, fee may be levied as a Special Project Fee and we will inform you of the specific amount before it is incurred by you and seek your approval prior to proceeding.

In addition, due to increased complexity, analysis and administration, a separate fee could apply to Clients that choose to hold;

• self-managed superannuation funds;

• direct shares and/or property; and

• retail managed funds/super funds.

The journey – A parable

A traveller embarked on a long journey, determined to reach the destination of ‘There’. Before long the traveller became lost and rather than wandering around aimlessly, he realized he needed directions. He stumbled upon a stranger. “Can you direct me to There?” he enquired. “Certainly!” replied the stranger. “I am Pointer, and I know this land very well”. The stranger extended his arms and pointed. “What you do is go along this path until you reach the river, head East until you reach the second bridge, then head North across the bridge until you reach the second set of crossroads….” Despite being clearly knowledgeable and intelligent, the directions of the Pointer became complicated; nevertheless the traveller politely thanked him and did his best to follow the directions. Before long the he was hopelessly lost…again. The traveller was relieved to meet another stranger. “Can you help me get to There?” he asked nervously. “Sure!” replied the stranger. “I am Mapmaker… and I am very familiar with where you want to go!” The Mapmaker drew a map which he then gave to the traveller. The map was quite clear and well explained and after thanking the Mapmaker, the traveller continued on his journey with renewed confidence. Unfortunately, the conditions of the path had altered; a tree had fallen; the river had flooded; and there was a rockfall – all of which caused the traveller to divert from the map so clearly laid out by the Mapmaker. Again the traveller became lost. Confused and disillusioned, he resigned himself to never reaching There. He stumbled across another stranger and in exasperation he asked” Can you help direct me to There?” “I believe so” replied the stranger “but before I do, can I ask why are you travelling to There?”’ The question caught the traveller off-guard, but eager to receive help he explained how getting to There was very important to him and that getting to There would make him feel very satisfied and happy. The stranger then asked “would you mind sharing with me how quickly you want to get to There?” The traveller was somewhat perplexed….after all what difference would it make, all he wanted to do was get to There! “What do you mean? Can’t you just tell me? The traveller replied in frustration. “Hmmm…not really” the stranger said “there are many ways to get to There. You can take the shortcut that may get you there quicker but that path can be hazardous and you may not get there at all. Alternatively, there is the scenic path which is less dangerous, but will probably take you a lot longer. How about I explain to you your choices?”

The stranger then questioned the traveller and used his responses to help the traveller decide on his choices and together they drew a map for his journey.

The traveler thanked the stranger and prepared to depart. “Where do you think you’re going?” asked the stranger. The traveller was surprised at the question. “I’m off to There of course!” “You’re not leaving without me!” announced the stranger. “I’m coming with you. What you need to understand is that the journey to There is through a land that is always changing, with new paths being built and others being changed. The weather and the terrain also change constantly. You may have even have experienced some of these changes on your journey so far” “Not only that” said the stranger. “During your journey, you are almost certainly going to change where you want to go, and I intend to be there to help you find the best path to get you to your new destination!” The traveller was flabbergasted. “Thank you. Now that we will be spending quite a bit of time together, it’s probably best that I know your name!” “Sure” said the stranger. “Just call me Guide!”
