The success we have experienced is due to your involvement, support, and expertise for the betterment of our students. We are really excited about the 2016-2017 school year. As you are probably aware, our Wall-to-Wall Academy model with certification opportunities has been a great enhancement to our curriculum, and we are excited about the second year of our new CHANGE Program! Over the last four years, we have seen a major decline in discipline issues, and a school spirit. We believe the new dress code, and the Wall- to-Wall Academy model are influential factors in this success. Please re-familiarize yourself with the code, and feel free to contact your child’s assistant principal for clarification. The new dress code is listed on our website, and hard copies are available in our main office. Congratulations to all! Our number of dual enrolment, AICE and AP courses offered to our students and the number of students we have on our campus, and in those courses were compared to every other school on the list. For the second year in a row, our school received the Family and Community Engagement Award! Keep engaged and informed! We have so many ways our parents and guardians can get involved, and we want you to be a part of our team! Please contact Tina Ward ([email protected]), our volunteer coordinator and find out how you can (if you are not already doing so) become a mentor, tutor, SAC representative, PTSA member or a booster! Our newsletter provides important information about ending the school year, senior information, course registration for next year, and other valuable information. We encourage you to communicate with your student the contents of this newsletter. Congratulations to the class of 2016! You have made us proud, and we look forward to hearing about all of your successes as you move on to bigger and better opportunities. Moving? Students who move over the summer and stay within Pinellas County will simply need to enter their change of address in the Student Reservation System and bring 2 proofs of residency to the school. From pcsb.org website, select “Student Reservation System”; parent logs in with username and password and follows path for “Changing your residence address”. Parents who do not already have a username and password may obtain one by presenting photo identification at any Pinellas County School. Students who move outside of the Pinellas County area will need to withdraw their student by notifying Student Services as soon as possible to ensure a smooth transition in the transfer of records prior to the new school year starting.

Option Available for ELECTRONIC REPORT CARDS In an effort to provide ease in obtaining report cards and promote a paperless system; parents have the option of requesting their students’ report card be published to their parent Portal/Focus account. Simply log in to Portal/Focus and select “Don’t mail me a report card”. Those who choose this option will receive their report cards electronically as soon as all grades are posted; which can be viewed and downloaded from the “Messages area” in Portal/Focus.The advantages of choosing the electronic report cards are:• Receive report card as soon as grades are available• Report cards no longer get lost between school & home• Students who are absent do not have to wait to return to school to receive their report card• Promotes paperless system, saving trees, paper, ink, etc.

Final Report Cards for the 2015/16 school year are expected to be sent electronically on June 14, 2016 and to be mailed home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 to those who do not request an electronic report card. Please make sure we have your correct address recorded in Portal/Focus (see demographic information). Parents who do not already have a username and password may obtain one by presenting photo identification at any Pinellas County School. Be sure to ask school personnel to assign student(s) to new parent account for access to grades, attendance, assignments, teachers, demographics, etc.

Thank You Business Partners Thank you to all our business partners for all the support you provide to make Clearwater High School a 5 STAR school! We look forward to carrying on our tradition with you next year!

Volunteer CornerThank You for a Great Year! Why does it matter if I log my volunteer hours? As part of our 5 STAR Portfolio, you are an integral piece of the puzzle. Your hours reflect the commitment our parents have to the students of Clearwater High School. Without you we would not have boosters to support our athletics, drama, academics, PTSA/SAC, chaperones, tutors, mentors, and the list goes on. Thank you for making the time to make a difference in the life of our students. Remember it is not too late to send Tina Ward, [email protected], your hours from the year. Please include activity with your total hours. If you have been keeping a hard copy, please feel free to send it in for me to record. Don’t forget the hours you spend during the summer with the boosters or organizing events for the coming year count in your Volunteer Portal account. Instructions for Portal sign in are located on our school website: www.clearwaterhighschool.com. Feel free to contact Tina Ward, 298-1620 ext.2045, [email protected]. for any help.

GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT UPDATE

SAT/ACT For a better chance of increasing your standardized test scores, take time out this summer to prepare for them. Sign up over the summer to take the first available test during the school year. Please visit:SATà www.collegeboard.org ACTà www.actstudent.org Go to KhanAcademy.org/sat for free practice on the SAT. If you took the PSAT this year, you can connect your Collegeboard.com account to your Khan Academy account. Khan will then give you practice questions that are prescriptive (tailored towards your weak areas). March2success.com is another great resource for SAT/ACT test preparation.SAT and ACT scores are important for:1. Admissions to 4 year colleges and universities2. Bright Futures Eligibility3. Concordant score for the FSA (Can use the reading score to satisfy the FSA requirement)4. Eligibility for Dual Enrollment5. College Readiness ScoresBright Futures –If you plan to volunteer over the summer please submit your proposal (Form 1) to your counselor before the end of the year. Failure to do so could mean picking a project that does not qualify for the scholarship program. College – Before making the final decision on which college or university to attend, it is important to make room for a college visits. During this time you can get a feel of the campus and student life, speak to students about their experiences, as well as speak to faculty. As a general rule, the priority deadline for many college applications is November 1st. Applying later in the year may significantly decrease your chances of being accepted to the college or university of your choice. The first step in the process is the application. You do not have to wait until you have your recommendations or acceptable test scores in order to apply.Scholarships – Go to www.pcsb.org/clearwater-hs for the latest scholarship information. The listings are found by clicking the scholarship tab. The Pinellas Education Foundation has over $150,000 worth of scholarships available to Pinellas County Seniors. The application opens up in August when school resumes. Visit www.PinellasEducation.org for more information on the types of scholarships available.

College or University Bound Students : FINAL TRANSCRIPTS College or University bound students must submit a request for a “Final Transcript” to be sent to the college/university they will be attending in the fall. The final transcript will have the graduation date posted on the summary page letting the college know that they have met all requirements for graduation. Final transcripts will be sent beginning the middle of June after the County Data Processing Department completes year-end reports.1. Fill out the Final Transcript Request Form in Student Services (see Mr. Biddle or Mrs. Abdo). Be prepared to record your Student ID number. The name and complete address of the college must

be listed when transcripts are to be sent to a private Florida college or an out of state college.2. There will be a $1.00 charge for each Official Transcript requested.
