US State Incentives (Massachusetts)


Massachusetts DOER – Solar Renewable Energy Credits

• Massachusetts' renewables portfolio standard (RPS) requires each regulated electricity supplier/provider serving retail customers in the state* to include in the electricity it sells 15% qualifying renewables by December 31, 2020.

• The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) regulates the RPS and developed corresponding rules.

US State Incentives (Maryland)


Sunburst Solar Grant Program

• The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is offering grants of $1,000 per kilowatt (kW) to public entities that install photovoltaic systems on multiple buildings.

• Grant Type: Installation Projects • Amount: $1,000 per kW • Geographic Focus: US, Maryland • Deadline: 26th March 2010

UK Energy Competitions (1 of 2)


Ultra-Efficient Lighting for Homes

• The Technology Strategy Board and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) are launching a £1.2m SBRI initiative to fund development work on ultra-efficient lighting (UEL) for the domestic environment.

• Grant Type: Research & Development • Amount: £1.2 million • Geographic Focus: UK • Deadline: 19th April 2010

Energy Efficient Whitehall

• We are launching an SBRI initiative to retrofit government buildings in London so they are more energy efficient and have lower carbon dioxide emissions.

• This competition is jointly funded by the Technology Strategy Board (£1m) and the Department for Energy and Climate Change (£1.75m), with support and resourcing from the Office of Government Commerce.

New UK Carbon Challenge Fund


North West Rural Carbon Challenge Fund

• The North West Rural Carbon Challenge Fund is provided by the Northwest Regional Development Agency as part of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

• Through the fund, grants are available to deliver renewable energy projects throughout rural parts of the region, in particular initiatives that focus on wind, water or woodfuel-powered energy.

The Green Lighting Challenge

• Grant Type: Prize / Award • Amount: $10,000 / $1,000 referral fee • Geographic Focus: Italy / International • Deadline: 26th March 2010

• GC is looking for innovative solutions and products to enhance the performance of its LED-based product line and extend its functional application to a wider range of fittings.

• Win $10,000 cash award for submitting solutions that will allow GC to meet the required illumination coefficients and to expand its Green Lighting fittings to motorways, urban areas, sports installations and other public areas.

• Myclimate, The Climate Protection Partnership, is looking for innovative approaches to secure and expand the sourcing of carbon offsetting projects.

Win $5,000 for submitting the most compelling concept for myclimate to find and approach Cleantech companies, technology providers and other organizations that apply and implement CO2-reducing technologies and initiatives in developing countries, mainly in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

• The CleanTech Challenge is a student competition jointly hosted by London Business School and University College London where students from top European business and engineering schools compete in cross-functional teams. The challenge is to develop innovative clean technology ideas from the concept phase to a stage in which they would attract Series A funding or otherwise be self-sustainable.

• Grant Type: Prize / Award • Amount: £5,000 • Geographic Focus: Europe • Deadline: 1st April 2010 (Phase 2)
