Once a client knows her season, there is no more guess work. TONERS

Aloe Toner Blue

How to Use: Apply with moistened cotton ball using upward strokes, avoiding eye area.

MOISTURIZE AND PROTECT (SPF 15)The sun causes skin damage. More than a million people will be diagnosed with skin cancer this year, of which 90% of all skin cancers are caused by sun exposure, yet fewer than 33% of adults, adolescents and children routinely use sun protection. (Information obtained from the Skin Cancer Foundation). Regular use of sunscreens over the years may reduce the chance of skin damage, some types of skin cancer, and other harmful effects due to the sun. Proof Positive Daily Defense Moisturizers SPF15; filter out the sun’s harmful rays to prevent future damage and uneven coloration.The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that everyone use an SPF of at least 15, which block 93 percent of UV-Bs. In contrast, SPF’s higher than 30 only block 4 percent more UVB rays.

What is meant by SPF?SPF (or sun protective factor) is the ratio of the amount of energy required to produce a minimal sunburn through a sunscreen product to the amount of energy required to produce the same minimal sunburn without any sunscreen protection. For example, if you get slightly sunburned after 20 minutes in the sun without any protection, then, when you use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15, you will get the same sunburn after staying in the sun for 20 x 15 = 300 minutes, or 5 hours.

What are UVA and UVB rays?Ultraviolet radiation is emitted from the sun in three different wavelengths: ultraviolet A (UV-A), ultraviolet B (UV-B) and ultraviolet C (UV-C). UV-C is toxic to human, plant and animal life but is filtered out by the atmosphere and never reaches earth. UV-B rays are the short, burning ones that worry most people because they penetrate the top two regions of the skin and are responsible for red, burning, and immediately damaged skin. UV-B rays are at their most intense between 10:00am and 2:00pm. UV-A rays are of lower intensity than UV-B but they can penetrate the third region of the skin, the dermis. UV-A’s potential for long-term damage is great – even though it may not appear to burn the skin – because it is present all day long, year-round, whether the sky is cloudy or sunny. It is especially concentrated during the early morning and late afternoon.
