This exhibition opens with a reception on Thursday, September 7th from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Copley Society, located at 158 Newbury Street, Boston, MA 02116, and continues through October 5th. In Claudia’s Dolls and Other Windows, Tony Schwartz captures models as they interact with his wife Claudia’s doll, Janie. In addition to interacting with Claudia’s doll, the models pose with their own personal objects, which Schwartz says would “help define them as a person, desiring this to complement their reactions to the doll.” Schwartz’ photographs glimpse into the “windows” of each model’s persona, so that each photograph “leaves the realm of the ordinary, illumines consciousness at a higher level and enters the arena of ‘art.’” Tony Schwartz is often drawn to photographing animals, landscapes, and people. When photographing models, Schwartz considers them to be “still performance artists,” because he finds that they often express their personal identities and “become art.” The Copley Society of Art (Co|So), America’s oldest non-profit arts organization, is committed to the advancement, enjoyment, and promotion of its member artists and the visual arts. The organization, founded in 1879, comprises juried artists who are selected by a credentialed art committee. Co|So provides artists with a gallery for exhibiting and selling their work and a platform for engaging and educating the community. #### Please contact the gallery for more high-resolution images – 617.536.5049 Please visit our website, www.copleysociety.org, to view images from the full exhibition.
