Work Hard, Be Grand JUST THE BEAR FACTS A Peek at the Week Math We are continuing to work with tape diagrams for both multiplication and division word problems. Key Vocabulary: Factor, quotient, product, tape diagram. Reading We are continuing to build our classroom community, learning how to share our ideas with partners, and putting our thinking into words (both verbally and on paper). Writing We are discussing what are the important parts of writing authors include, and what strategies do they use during the editing process. Next week, we will begin our Narrative writing unit. Science We have discussed all of the 6 stages of a Salmon’s lifecycle, and spent time painting our interpretation of the life cycle. Mark Your Calendar! Week of October 9 th : We will be making our Salmon Tshirts for our fieldtrip. October 23 rd : Teacher workday; no school for students. October 30 th : Salmon Field trip (from around 9:3011:30) October 30 th : Vision and Hearing screenings at Grand Ridge. Announcements The Orange Ruler fun run will be on the afternoon of October 4 th ! Our class finished 2 nd place for the fundraiser and has earned a Kona Ice Party! Woo! Remember to send a white t-shirt with your child’s name written inside to school on or before October 9 th for our Salmon Field trip.
