NO MESS, NO FUSS APPLIQUÉ This is a hand appliqué class devoted to using a specific and unique appliqué method taught by Glenda. This appliqué method DOES NOT use freezer paper, glue, templates, hemostats, or overlays -- hence the name "No Mess, No Fuss Appliqué". This method is highly portable and able to fit into a baggie in your purse. Please visit the “APPLIQUE” pages on Glenda’s website: www.glyncor.com

New Students: We would be happy to have you join us. Our students have a wonderful time creating beautiful applique using this method. Glenda’s Beginning Applique is prerequisite for all other applique classes, so if you are interested in participating in the Fiesta Vases project that begins in March, you must have taken one of the Beginning classes, “Gingko Leaf” or “Purple Flowers.”

PURPLE FLOWERS (Group C - Beginning Applique) This is a 1-month project for beginning students to learn the No mess, No Fuss Hand-Applique method. Instructor: Glenda Correll Class Fee: $25 Tuesday February 18 9:30am-3pm

BLOSSOMS OF FRIENDSHIP QUILT (Group B) This year our project is the Blossoms of Friendship quilt, which includes 12 blocks and an appliquéd border. The project is for all skill levels -- including beginners. However, some of the patterns may be a bit challenging. Prerequisite is Beginning No Mess, No Fuss Appliqué. Instructor: Glenda Correll Class Fee: $25 / month Mondays January 20, February 17 9:30am-3pm Note: No new students are being accepted for this project. Please join us for our next project: Fiesta Vases Quilt (see below).

FIESTA VASES QUILT (Group B & C) This is a repeat of a previous class and is the instructor’s favorite project. The classes begin in March with a very important “Planning Session” to go through your fabrics, talk about the patterns, and review project handouts. it will end with a shopping trip to Quilt Patch to purchase any additional fabrics you may need. Students should bring fabrics to the planning session they think will work in the project. Beginning in April, students will use these beautiful patterns to learn Glenda’s applique techniques from beginning to advanced. The project includes 2 filler blocks, pieced sashing, and 5 large blocks (7-months) or 8 large blocks (10-months). Prerequisite is “Beginning No Mess, No Fuss Appliqué.” Instructor: Glenda Correll Class Fee: $25 / month Planning Session: Monday March 17, 9:30am-3pm

FMQ 1 & 2 Combined - “Free-Motion Machine Quilting”

FMQ1 - beginning free-motion quilting will teach students to master their sewing machines as they “teach” it to follow their lead. Students learn the basics of FMQ using basic Free Motion Quilting techniques. FMQ2 - intermediate free-motion quilting expands this lesson to include a variety of “open design” background fillers. In this intermediate FMQ class, students will learn to first draw, and then stitch designs, while training hands and eyes to move in a free-style manner. Intermediate sewing skills are suggested. Instructor: Glenda Correll Class Fee: $35 Saturday March 29, 10am-4pm

Please come and view Glenda’s beautiful sample, and see what you can do when you learn to Free-Motion Quilt.!

ELECTRIC QUILT SOFTWARE EQ is the industry’s best quilt design software. Design your own quilts with the 10 automatic layouts, over 540 pre-designed layouts by size and by style, popular quick-quilts, or draw your own custom layout. The block library contains over 5,000 copyright-free block patterns. Audition fabrics using your own personal fabric stash or use the 5,000 pre-scanned fabrics in the fabric library. Place applique and embroidery designs into your quilt design, and add quilting patterns to your quilt before you make it. Print patterns for foundation piecing, templates, and rotary cutting. EQ does the math for you with precision! Print your fabric yardage, too! The possibilities are endless. Whether you own EQ5, EQ6, or EQ7, or just want to see what EQ does, this class is for you.

EQ1 - Beginning Electric Quilt Software Class format will be “Basics Review” 9:30-10:30, followed by “Learn Something New” 10:30 - 1pm. Students may audit the class without bringing their laptop, but you are encouraged to bring your laptop with EQ installed and working. You will learn more quickly with hands on. If you are interested in purchasing EQ, I highly suggest EQ7 rather than EQ6 - it has so much more in it. You can purchase EQ7 (or EQ6), and the upgrade from EQ6 to EQ7 at Paramount. Instructor: Glenda Correll Class Fee: $25 Saturday March 8, 9:30am-1pm

Choose the right type of class for YOU! Beginner: Whether you've never threaded a needle, you’re experimenting with a sewing machine or serger, or just haven’t sewn in years… this is a great class for you. These simple, basic classes will increase your knowledge and skill level while you create a fun project. This class is also suitable to anyone who has additional sewing skills.

Intermediate: When you have completed a number of beginning sewing projects and are looking to increase your knowledge base, choose this level of class. We focus on tools and techniques to make you an even better home sewer. Suitable for a “confident beginner”.

Advanced: These classes cater to experienced sewers. Choose these when you want to become familiar with new and advanced types of sewing projects under the guidance of a professional.

Hand Appliqué: These classes are for hand applique, not machine. Please see class descriptions for any pre-requisite or other requirements for the class.

Machine Embroidery: You will either be using your embroidery machine in this class, or it is a lecture/demonstration class about machine embroidery. All brands of embroidery machines are welcome in these classes. Please be sure to ask if you have any questions.

Software: Bring your laptop with the appropriate software already installed. Please be sure it’s up-to-date with the most current update before coming to class (we need everyone to be on the same “page”). Bring your external mouse, mouse pad, power cord, and dongle (if your software needs one). Please be sure to ask if you have any questions.

How to Register: To register for a class, simply come by Paramount in person or call 541-345-2100. Class fees are due when you register. Be sure you get a supply list for each class when you pay for your class so you know what to bring. You will receive a 15% discount on any items specified on the class supply list. Please note: to comply with U.S. copyright laws, if an instructor specifies a book, embroidery design or other unique item for the class, each student must own their own copy.

Refunds and Cancellations: Classes not meeting minimum enrollment will be canceled one week in advance of the class Date. If we must cancel the class for that or any other reason, we will refund your fees. We will call you if the class is cancelled. We pay our teachers for a guaranteed number of students, so if you need to cancel a class refunds will be given only if you call and cancel at least 7 days prior to the class. You are welcome to send a friend in your place if you cannot attend, but we will be unable to refund the tuition.

Other information: If you’d like to use one of our machines for a class, just let us know a day or two before the class. This is a great way to "test drive" a new machine. We design most of our classes to accommodate all levels of sewing skills, beginning to advanced — if you have any questions about a class, please do not hesitate to ask. For all-day classes, you will have a break around noon. You may bring a lunch (we have a refrigerator & microwave) or you can purchase lunch nearby. When you take a class at Paramount, we intend to teach you the basic concepts for the class. Our goal is to provide you ample time to grasp the concepts and do part of the project. The time allowed may not be enough to finish the entire project, but you will have the knowledge needed to complete it very successfully. For their safety, we cannot allow children to attend an adult sewing class with you. And for everyone’s comfort, our classroom is a fragrance-free zone. Thanks for your consideration of others.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR CLASSES

Got leftover fabrics? You are welcome to bring leftover WOVEN COTTON FABRICS to Paramount, and we'll get the fabric to one of the local organizations that makes quilts for children's' charities, such as Comforts for Children or Quilts of Valor. JUST SEW IT! We’re always making fun projects for the monthly “All About Embroidery” classes, and now we’re offering a hands-on SEWING version of these projects. This is NOT an embroidery class, so don’t worry if you don’t have that capability. All you need is a good sewing machine with basic stitches, basic sewing skills, and the supplies for the class. Don’t have a machine? We can loan you one!

This class has a bit of mystery to it. Why? Because we don’t know what the actual project is until about a month before the class, so we can’t show the samples right away. All we can do is give you a clue about the general topic (which is all we know in advance). We will announce more information in our Paramount E-News, or you can come into Paramount to see the samples when they’re done. This class is a fun way to polish your basic sewing skills, and make a great series of projects (possibly for gifts?” throughout the year!
