d)IftheservicesoftheFestivalaccompanistarerequiredintheinstrumentalclasses,onecopyofthemusicmustbesubmittedwiththeEntry,eitheracopybypost,orcopybyemail.

e)IftheservicesoftheFestivalaccompanistarenotrequired,itistheresponsibilityoftheentranttoensurethatthe

accompanistisofanappropriatestandard.Theadjudicatorwillmakenoallowancesforanaccompanistwho

f)TheFestivalonlypermitstheuseofrecordedorbackgroundmusicinGroupDrama,PopularMusic,Songsfromthe

ShowsandMusicalTheatreclasses.

3)Entries

a) CopiesofMusic-INCONJUNCTIONWITHREGULATION4

i. Forallentries,oneadditionalcopymustbebroughtonthedayofcompetitionfortheuseoftheAdjudicator.

ii. Photocopiesusedbytheadjudicatorwillnotbereturnedandwillbedestroyedfollowingthefestival.Thisisto

ensurecompliancewithcopyrightlaw.

b)Timelimitsmustbestrictlyobservedandthetimingofownchoicepiecesmustbestated

accuratelyontheentryform.

c)OwnChoice.

i.ThetitleofOwnChoicepiecesMUSTbestatedontheEntryForm.FailuretodosowillresultintheEntrybeing

rejected.

ii.Nochangeofownchoicepieceswillbepermitted,inaccordancewiththePerformingRightsSocietyRegulations.

iii.SetandOwnChoicepiecesarenottoberepeatedindifferentclasses.

iv. Where the text of any performance includes swear words, other expletives and/or blasphemy this must be

indicatedontheEntryFormandacopyoftheFULLTEXToftheperformancesubmitted.TheExecutiveCommittee

reserves the right to reject any material that it feels to be unsuitable. This rule is made in case the relevant

performanceisscheduledatatimewhenyoungpeoplemaybepresentintheaudience.NB-Wherethisruleisnot

adheredtotheperformancemaybestoppedandtheperformerdisqualified.

a)ImmediatelytheEntryListisclosed,theExecutiveCommitteewilldecidetheorderinwhichclasseswillbetaken.

Therewill benoguarantee as to the session inwhich any classwill beheld.TheCommittee reserves the right to

changetheorderifnecessary,inwhichcaseduenoticewillbegiventoperformers.

b)Performersnotansweringwhencalleduponduringtheclassforfeittherighttocompeteinthatclass.

c)Alltrophiesaretobeheldforoneyearonlyandmustbereturnedbythedatespecified.

d)Trophiesmaybeawardedtoadifferentclassdependingonentries.

e)TheAdjudicatorsdecisioninallcasesshallbefinal.Adjudicators’remarksheetswillbeavailabletoperformersfree

ofchargeaftereachclass.TheExecutiveCommitteereservetherighttoappointadditional/alternativeadjudicators

tothoseinitiallyannouncedwhentheSyllabusisreleased.

f)PerformersormembersoftheaudiencemustnotapproachtheAdjudicatordirectlyandmustcontacteitherthe

Adjudicator’sSecretaryatthedeskoraFestivalOfficer.

g)ThedecisionoftheExecutiveCommitteeinallquestionsordisputesarisingoutof,ornotprovidedforwithinthese

h) The Executive Committee disclaim all responsibility for injury, damage or loss suffered by any performer or

memberoftheaudience,howsoevercaused,exceptinsofarassuchresponsibilitycannotbedisclaimedforstatutory

reasons.

i)Whenaprizeisofferedwithamonetaryvalue,itwillonlybeawardedtoclasseswith2ormoreentries.

j)Theuseofphotographicandvideoequipmentisprohibited.

k)TheOfficialFestivalPhotographerandthePressmaybeattending:ifparents/guardiansdonotwishtheirchildto

bephotographed,theymustinformtheFestivalCommittee.

SafeguardingPolicyTheDonValleyFestivalrecognisesitsdutyofcareundertheChildren&YoungPersonsAct1963,theChild(Performances)Regulations2014,theProtectionofChildrenAct1999andtheCriminalJusticeandCourt

ServicesAct2000.

The Don Valley Festival recognises that abuse can take many forms, whether it be physical abuse,

emotionalabuse,sexualabuseorneglect.TheDonValleyFestivaliscommittedtopracticewhichprotects

childrenfromharm. AllmembersoftheDonValleyFestivalacceptandrecognisetheirresponsibilitiesto

developawarenessoftheissueswhichcausechildrenharm.

TheDonValleyFestivalbelievesthat:

· Thewelfareofthechildisparamount.

· All children, whatever their age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious

beliefsand/orsexualidentityhavetherighttoprotectionfromabuse.

· Allsuspicionsandallegationsofabuseshouldbetakenseriouslyandrespondedtoswiftlyand

appropriately.

· All members and employees of the DonValley Festival should be clear on how to respond

appropriately.

TheDonValleyFestivalwillensurethat:

· Allchildrenwillbetreatedequallyandwithrespectanddignity.

· Thedutyofcaretochildrenwillalwaysbeputfirst.

· A balanced relationship based onmutual trust will be built which empowers the children to

shareinthedecisionmakingprocess.

· Enthusiasticandconstructivefeedbackwillbegivenratherthannegativecriticism.

· Bullyingwillnotbeacceptedorcondoned.

· AlladultmembersoftheDonValleyFestivalprovideapositiverolemodelfordealingwithother

people.

· Actionwillbetakentostopanyinappropriateverbalorphysicalbehaviour.

· Itwillkeepuptodatewithhealthandsafetylegislation.

· Itwillkeepinformedofchangesinlegislationandpoliciesfortheprotectionofchildren.

· Itwillundertakerelevantdevelopmentandtraining.

· It will hold a register of every entry involved with the DonValley Festival and will retain a

contactnameandnumberclosetohandincaseofemergencies.
