A number of people from our class have sent

some nice donations to John Schaaf recently

to help us cover expenses for our class

treasury. Classmates, thank you very much

for being so kind. John and I want to let you

know how much it helps, especially at this

time of the year when we are getting the

annual letter together and want to make sure

everyone gets the info and updates on what’s

going on. You’re really great!

60th Class Reunion The Lismore

Eau Claire, WI September 13, 14, & 15, 2019

Downtown Eau Claire has been in the midst

of a renovation for several years. It just

keeps looking better and better all the time

as businesses, lots of lovely restaurants,

variety stores, and entertainment venues are

“popping up” all over. And The Lismore is

leading the way. You will be thrilled when

you see all the good things that are

happening here. I talked with Melissa at The

Lismore yesterday. (She is part of the

planning, reservations, and events

department at the hotel.) When I checked

with her to make sure we have our

reservations in order for 2019, she

suggested that I send everyone a

questionnaire to make sure the three-day

event will be just the way you want it. So,

part of this newsletter is a questionnaire for

you! Please complete it as soon as you can,

and send it back. You know that your

reunion committee wants to make sure you

have a great time at the 60th Reunion, and

your help will make that happen! Your

committee will be meeting in late June, so

please return the questionnaires by the

middle of June – deadline will be June 15th. It

will really help the committee make the

weekend the very best it can be for everyone

at our 60th Reunion in 2019! Thanks much!

Mogie’s on the

Second Thursday

Every Month

Over the years since we graduated from Eau

Claire Memorial High School, our class has

tried a number of different restaurants in

Eau Claire, but we always come back to

Mogie’s on Water Street, and that’s where

you’ll find most of the members of the Class

of 1959 these days -- on the second

Thursday of every month – all year long.

Since the back entrance was totally redone

to accommodate wheelchairs, the area is

accessible to all, and everyone seems to be

there on a regular basis! On the second

Thursday of each month, at 1:00 p.m., it’s

usually packed with members of the

ECMHS Class of 1959, who are enjoying

some great food in addition to great

company. If you haven’t been there lately,

you’re missing a great time. You might

want to put it on your calendar!

Breakfast/Brunch

on Sunday

September 15, 2019 The last day of our 60th Class Reunion will be Sunday, September 15, 2019. In planning this event, it’s important for us to know what you would like and what fits best with your travel plans, etc. Would you like to have an early breakfast and be on your way, or would you like a leisurely brunch and be able to visit with classmates before you are on your way home? The brunch on the Sunday of the 55th Reunion gave many of us a chance to get together and take some time to visit before everyone took off. How does that sound?

A reunion golf scramble on Saturday at Hallie Golf Course

A golf scramble at Lake Hallie Golf Course will be offered on Saturday for any class members and guests who are attending the 60th class reunion. Judy johnson kneer has run the golf scramble for years (thank you, Judy!) and will continue to do the job for our 60th reunion. So, bring your golf clubs and get ready to sign-up for a great day out in the sunshine.

The Lismore

Reservations

Since there are many events going

on in September each year in this

area, you might want to consider

making your reservations at The

Lismore, or wherever else you might

want to stay for the 60th Reunion,

sooner, rather than later. Fall is the

time when there are several music

festivals in the Eau Claire area, and

rooms are reserved way ahead of

time – even from year to year.

Please think about it, and consider

the possibility, because we don’t

want you to find out that everything

in the area is full for our Reunion

Weekend! And, you might want to

check way ahead of time to know

what’s available if you have a favorite

place to stay in the Eau Claire area.

Some Advice

About Money!

A number of years ago, when we

were working on a class reunion, a

friend & I were talking about having

enough money to enjoy the reunion.

He told me that he put a quarter a

day into his “piggy bank,” between

reunions, so that he could, totally,

enjoy each class reunion and not

have to worry about the cost. Not

only does it pay for the reunion, it

pays for travel too!

Choosing the right food for an event is always fun but a challenge also, because it is difficult to guess what everyone likes. As we have discussed the three-days that we’ll be together for the 60th Reunion, we have also looked back at previous reunions to remember what kinds of food and beverages most people preferred. And it seems to members of the committee that pizza has been a top choice through the years for the Friday night informal get-together. It also seems that one of our most successful evenings was when we had lots of pizza, candy, and beer – with a few other snacks throughout the evening. Please let us know if you would like to do that again, with a bar in the room and enough bar tenders, of course. We’ve had some good reviews on the Saturday night dinners also, which makes us think that might be another possibility for Saturday evening. The committee wants to do whatever our classmates would like, so give us some feedback, and let us know what YOU want. We hope you have some ideas and will share them as we get more specific about details for our 60th Reunion. The committee members just want to make this the best reunion ever for the best class ever!

As we prepare for our 60th Class Reunion in 2019, we would like to have as much input and

help from all of our classmates as possible, so the reunion will be a wonderful weekend for
