LO: To
consistently
choose nouns
and pronouns
for clarity and
cohesion.
Today, I would like you to have a look at the PowerPoint I have
added to the Richard de Clare Home Learning page and Class Dojo.
It is all about choosing nouns and pronouns for clarity and
cohesion.
I would like you to read through the PowerPoint and answer the
questions up to slide 7 today. It will help you to understand what
cohesion is and why it is so important in your writing.
Have a go at the questions on slide 6 and then use the answers on
slide 7 to mark your work.
Handwriting
and spelling
LO: Words
with a soft c
spelled with ce
Your spellings today are experience and sentence.
Write the above word 3 times each using your best, joined handwriting then put them
into a sentence. Make sure you are using them correctly.
Use a thesaurus to find antonyms and synonyms.

English
LO: To write
the build up of
a story
In this lesson, you will use our planning from the last lesson to help you write the build
up of your story. You will finish the lesson by reading your paragraph aloud to make sure
it makes sense and to make sure it follows on from your opening paragraph. Your writing
should be cohesive and flow properly.
Watch https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/to-write-the-build-up-of-the-
story-6mukae and carry out the associated tasks. By the end of the lesson, you should
have the opening and the build up to your story written, ready to move on.
Reading focus: Read your reading book or a book you are enjoying at home for 20 mins. You could also
log onto Reading Planet and read a book that had been assigned to you. Remember, they
have fun questions and quizzes too 😊
Maths
LO: To solve
correspondence
problems.
Correspondence problems are problems where you must find all
possible combinations of objects in a set, or in more than one set. For
example, 'There are 3 tops and 4 skirts - how many different outfits
can you make?' Watch the PowerPoint on the home learning page or on
Class Dojo and work through the examples. This should help you to understand the
concept.
Once you have become familiar with what you need to do, have a go at the questions
below. Remember to do A or B, not both.

LO: To
recognise that
there are
different ways
to pay and that
people have
different
attitudes
towards saving
and spending
money.
Today I would like you to work through the PowerPoint I
have put on Class Dojo and the Richard de Clare Year 4 home
learning page. All the resources you need to complete your
learning are attached at the end of today’s home learning.
The words below you will need to complete one of the
activities.
The Ways to Pay Describing sheet and Matching Activity sheets are at the end of this
plan.
The next part of your learning is to answer the following questions:
1. Why do you think people save money?
2. Why do you think people are not able to save money?
3. Why do you think people have different attitudes to saving money?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts 😊
Science
LO: To answer
questions about
gas using
evidence from
scientific
enquiries and
to record
findings using
drawings
Gases surround us, but how many can you name? Which ones make up the air around us?
Which gases are important for human life or plant life?
How many of the gases in the table below have you heard of?
Year 4 Date: 03/03/21
Watch the two clips below and look at how different gases are used in everyday life for
heating, cooking, spraying, scuba diving, flying, swimming and so on.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0119qdh
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zb4g9j6
I would like you to carry out some experiments today.
All materials are made up of particles - solids, liquids and gases! Even though many gases
are not visible, they are there and they are matter! The following experiments will help
show that air is a material.
Year 4 Date: 03/03/21
Do gases weigh anything?
Is this plastic bottle empty?
Use scientific language to explain what has happened in your two investigations and draw
the experiments you have carried out, using scientific language to label your drawings.

interest which can sometimes be very high.
This is a safe place to store your money. It is looked after by a bank, and you can use your money when you want. You can spend money from this by using a debit card or contactless
payment linked to it.
This is a card that is linked to an account where you keep your money. It allows you to
spend your own money.
This form of payment allows you to tap your debit card onto a card reader to pay for things up to the value of £45. It transfers money from your bank account linked to the debit card to
the company or business you wish to pay.
