Page 7 This term we have been learning about the ancient Egyptians. We have learned about the Gods that they worshipped and the geographical features of the river Nile. Most recently we have fo- cused on the gruesome mummification process, and even mummified oranges ourselves! Here are some pictures of the children re- moving the or- ange’s organs: This term, we have made some amazing exploding books that explain - How to Look After a Drgaon. We wrote an introduction, a you will needlist, drew diagrams and organised our work into different sub titles. How to get your dragon to sleep Moon is a dragon cub so she loves sleeping but theres certain things she needs to get to sleep, so listen up! Moon loves bubble baths, so you will need to make a bath of 470 degrees – full of bubbles to harden her wings and dont forget – she likes to move about so make a deep bath. After about 2 hours, take her out of the bath and wrap her up in a very fluffy towel. Take the towel off after 2 minutes and put her into her onesie. Make her a peppermint tea (steal it from your mums cupboard). What to feed your dragon Thankfully Moon is not that much of a fussy eater- so I wont have to wish you luck! She loves nothing more than spicy foods particularly Thai food. But remember – you cant find these foods everywhere so look hard. You do not want to see Moon get mad. You shall need to feed her 4 times a day with the required foods. Class 1 have made a fantastic start to the year. We have been very busy with our superhero topic. We have had a visit from a nurse and a fire fighter this term, to tell us about how people in our community can help us. We had lots of fun learning our Supertato story who luckily helped us to save har- vest!

Class 2 have already had two visitors this year. Debbie from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue came to talk to us about how we could help ourselves in the event of a fire. We learned how to check if a fire was outside our bedroom door, how to leave the house safely, how to put out a fire on our clothes and how to contact the emergency services. The Bridge came to see us last week and we enjoyed making creatures from playdough to represent the Creation Story from The Bible. We went to Salisbury Cathedral to a Materials Workshop as part of our Science topic this term. We looked at the stained glass windows and made some of our own to display in the classroom. We also made clay tiles and we used dif-ferent forces to move heavy stones around. We have also enjoyed recreating Christopher Columbus’s voyage to discover America and we made up dances to show Neil Armstrong land-

ing on the moon in 1969.

Moving Pictures Year 6 have been busy learning all

about different types of lever and the

different movements they can create.

After meeting their buddies in Recep-

tion Class and reading them the story

of ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ they

set to work to make them a special

picture. The photographs show some

of their moving pictures that include a

tiger that comes to the door, one who

empties the fridge and another who

eats all the food on the table! On

Tuesday af-

ternoon Year

6 are hosting

a ‘Tigers’ Tea

Party’ for

their buddies

where they

will give

them the

pictures they

have made

as a gift.

In Class 3 this term we have been learning how to build Art Bots and writing instructions on how to make them. In order to make our Art Bots we had to learn to read and fol-low instructions, how to make a circuit and have a good understanding of electronics. We made our prototype Art Bots and tested them to see what improvements we could make. Then a week later we made the Art Bots again with our improvements. It definitely took a lot of resilience! Once we had made sure our circuits were working, it was very exciting to watch them draw some brilliant rainbow patterns.

We are all trying to be Bubbling Learners !

Class R are very pleased and proud to have made it through their very first term at St Andrew’s Primary School. We have all enjoyed getting to know each other and exploring all of the dif-ferent areas in our classroom and gar-den. We have talked about how to look after our toys and resources and how we can be safe with our friends. We have made some pizza fac-es this term using a variety of vegetables!

We have had a visitor from The Bridge to help us begin thinking about Christi-anity, God and the Creation story. Using props, we helped to tell the story as a whole
