PRESENTATION M.E.G.A. has developed a new cladding division, with state-of-the-art machines to perform
weld overlays.
M.E.G.A. can provide the most advanced solutions for cladding of pipeline components,
and offers the best weld overlay quality to meet the increasing requirements of the market.
The control of each phase of the process ensures that all welds are performed in the more
efficient manner, using the best parameters to ensure that the result is “safe and sound”.

PROCESS In order to always deliver the best products, M.E.G.A. uses only TIG processes, which
permits to create high quality and clean welds. In particular the process used is a special
version of Hot wire TIG developed by Polysoude and called TIGer.
TIGer Technology is an evolution in Hot Wire technology, because in addition to the pre-
heated filler wire, TIGer incorporates a unique system of two tungsten electrodes in tandem
configuration, with each electrode being separately fed.
Contrary to the most common tandem
configurations on the market, in the TIGer
process, the two thermal sources join, in
order to create a single arc. In this special
configuration the single arc, even though
generated from two different electrodes,
causes lower arc pressure than in classic
tandem configurations, so higher current
intensities can be used by assuring higher
speeds and higher deposit rates, and at
the same time achieving lower dilution
rates.

VERTICAL CLADDING – SPX CNC TIGER
This equipment, managed by CNC software, allows easy cladding of internal and external
surfaces of different shapes and geometries.

The real innovation is the endless rotating head, which allows the piece to be placed on
the ground, and the torch rotates, allowing easy cladding of highly asymmetrical products.

HORIZONTAL CLADDING – TWIN TIGER This equipment allows easy cladding of internal surfaces of pipes and long products. The
welding process is Twin TIGer, which means that two layers are cladded in one run only of
the welding head.
Two cameras (one for each torch) allow the perfect real time monitoring of the welding
activity.

An integrated pre-heating and cooling device – controlled by software – allows effective pre-heating.
Range of products that can be cladded with this equipment:
~ Minimum ID 135 mm – Maximum length 6.000 mm, or
~ Minimum ID 150 mm – Maximum length 12.000 mm
