Placed around the room you will find copies of the Rules and Procedures for this class.
In a group of 3 or less, find the answers to the following questions.

3. What can you eat/drink in this classroom?
4. Where will you find your homework assignments, and what will they consist of?
5. What do you do if you miss a quiz?

7. How often will notebooks be checked?
8. Describe two of the units you think will be most interesting?

What is a citizen? Citizen- a member of a state or nation who
owes allegiance to it by birth or naturalization and is entitled to full civil rights.
Types of Citizen Natural Born Naturalized
Duty v. Responsibility What is the difference between a citizen’s
duty and a citizen’s responsibility? Duty- an action required by law.
Ex. Jury duty, school, paying taxes Responsibility- an action that a citizen
should take. Ex. Voting, community service, involvement
in government
Homework Interview someone not born in the United
States. Ask and record the answers to the following questions:1. What is his/her legal status? Citizen,
Resident, Alien?2. If he/she is a citizen, how long did it take to
become a citizen and what was the process he/she had to follow?
3. If he/she is not a citizen, why?
Warm Up- New Citizens Copy and answer the following question: Should everyone coming to the US from a
foreign country be able to become a US citizen? Why or Why not?
