General waste and recycling bins
The City offers weekly waste and fortnightly recycling collection services for residents.
Items that cannot be reused, recycled or recovered should go in the red-lidded general waste bin.
The standard residential size of the general waste bin is 120 litres and all items placed in it go to landfill.
The standard residential size of the yellow-lidded recycling bin is 240 litres and all items placed in it go to the City’s contracted materials recovery facility.

Your waste service fee is charged with your annual rates and provides the following:
• Weekly collection of waste
• Fortnightly collection of recycling
• Repair or replacement of broken or missing bins
• Two bulk verge collections a year for household items
• Green waste collection for residents
• Reduced fees on tip passes
• Supply of street and park bins
• Street sweeping
• Administration services
• Removal of illegal dumping
Waste services
Bulk waste collections occur in the first week of July and December
each year.

will empty your general waste bin weekly
Meat, bones, fruit and vegetable scraps
Plastic bags, wrap and thin plastic packaging
Nappies, personal hygiene waste, polystyrene foam
Damaged textiles
General household waste and pet poo

The following items can go into your yellow-lidded recycling waste bin:
Recyclone
Aluminium and steel cans
Glass bottles and jars (lids removed)
Plastic bottles and containers (lids removed)
Cardboard (flattened)
Paper (no shredded paper)
will empty your recycling bin fortnightly

The West Metro Recycling Centre offers free mulch to City of Subiaco
residents. With proof of your residence, you can take a trailer load of
mulch home to make your garden happy.
The mulch is processed from green waste so is a great example of closed
loop recycling.

FREE MULCH
GREEN WASTE COLLECTION
To have your green waste collected, place it on the verge on the same day as your general waste collection. A minimum of four and a maximum of ten reusable City of Subiaco green waste bags are to be presented.
Size requirements must be adhered to for green waste piles to be removed – visit www.subiaco.wa.gov.au/waste for these specifications.
Green waste bags can be purchased from the Administration Centre for $5 each.

BULK WASTE COLLECTION HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
Bulk waste collections are conducted twice a year in July and December.

Household hazardous waste includes unwanted household products that are flammable, corrosive or explosive. They are unsafe to place in any kerbside bin and, if not disposed of properly, can be harmful to you, your pets or the environment. Hazardous waste includes gas cylinders, general household chemicals, paint, smoke detectors and batteries.
The West Metro Recycling Centre offers a free drop-off service for certain types and quantities of hazardous waste. For details, including the full list of accepted items, visit www.wmrc.wa.gov.au or call 9384 6711.
