PROJECT SUMMARY

Melco Crown Entertainment is currently expanding its horizon with the construction of City of Dreams Manila. Located in the entertainment haven along Manila Bay area, City of Dreams Manila is a mix of six hotel towers, including Hyatt Manila, Crown Tower and Nobu Hotel Manila, various high end restaurants and bars, gaming features and a resort. Together with Leighton Construction Philippines Inc., an engineering procurement construction, we engaged ourselves in a multi billion project which will soon be in the frontline of business and entertainment district in the Philippines. Nukote Industries and Lockwell Systems �rst become involved with the project in November 2013 to assist the current issue at the Podium Level, the deck level for amenities and resort, which is surrounded with the towers and sited on top of the luxurious gaming area. Consultation and planning of works were carefully analyzed due to existing construction issues which are the removal of existing waterproo�ng membrane followed by the contradictions of having the system exposed or non-exposed. Ranges of bandage system were introduced to start o� the works. Majority of the leakage issue with the previous water proo�ng membrane was observed on the joints and podium perimeter along the tower walls. Temporary waterproo�ng was the �rst resort for the issue and eventually, with all the issues addressed, application of the permanent waterproo�ng commenced. Speci�cation of works on di�erent areas was brought up in the duration of scheduling and planning to meet the required standard as per inspection and quality management plan. Nukote Industries and Lockwell Systems coordinate with High Performance Solutions Inc., a local applicator, to successfully close out the project in due time. PODIUM DECK LEVEL

Bandage System speci�cation was an original Nukote Industries and Lockwell Systems speci�cation designed to waterproof the tower perimeter, podium perimeter and control joints. As a preliminary step on the construction works, all joints were required to be water tight, hence a number bandage system was introduced to match each area. The application of this system was not continuous rather cut down into sections determined by the level of priority and schedule rendered by the construction management. The system speci�ed was pure polyurea at 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) over Lockwell WPC applied at 2000 psi over shot blasted concrete substrate with defects �lled with cementitous grout. Pool and Nobu Pond System speci�cation was designed to waterproof the exterior walls of areas where water will be contained. The system used was questioned during the course of planning but with thorough discussion, it was agreed by all parties and application commenced. The system speci�ed was pure polyurea at 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) over Lockwell WPC applied at 2000 psi over shot blasted concrete substrate with defects �lled with cementitous grout. Once pool slab and walls area casted another layer of the system was applied on the external walls. Pure polyurea at 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) over Lockwell WPC on green concrete substrate. Podium Garden Waterproo�ng System speci�cation was a revision to the original plan of having 3000 microns (3 mm or 118mil) thickness of pure polyurea. It was adjusted to 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) due to the presence of root barrier system. Various systems were applied on the garden area depending on the dimension and planting plan. A well �gured criterion was given by the landscaping consultant to suit every area of application. Speci�cation also includes the path walks and water feature areas which are sited along the grounds. The system speci�ed was pure polyurea at 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) over Lockwell WPC applied at 2000 psi over shot blasted concrete substrate with defects �lled with cementitous grout. For areas where there is a secondary slab, another similar system was applied. Cooling Tower Waterproo�ng System speci�cation was a similar system applied on the rest of the podium. Structural supports for the cooling tower encasement should be built �rst prior to water proo�ng. To cope up with the revisions on the structural design, several changes on the design was made and �nalized along with the as built properties of the construction. One of the challenges for the duration of design was providing a temporary waterproo�ng due to continuous testing and operation of the cooling tower. The system speci�ed was pure polyurea at 1500 microns (1.5mm or 59 mil) over Lockwell WPC applied at 2000 psi over shot blasted concrete substrate with defects �lled with cementitous grout.
