2013 Work Plan - Attract & Market• Revamp Domestic Recruitment Program with West Central

Ohio Development Coalition (WCODC) at key trade shows and key markets focused on advanced manufacturing, healthcare, alternative energy and logistics/distribution.

• Continue Site Consultant Engagement Program with WCODC at key forums hosted by Area Development, Expansion Management and WT Logistics.

• Renew efforts on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Program with JobsOhio focusing on the Hannover Messe Show in April and the US Midwest-Japan Conference in September.

2013 Work Plan – Retain & Expand

• Continue the BusinessFirst! Program in partnership with Dayton Region. New model with the Dayton Development Coalition will likely bring more resources to these efforts.

• Work with major property owners and city departments on developing “Project-ready” sites for potential expansion and attraction projects. This includes evaluating strategic annexation opportunities.

• Work with our GPN R&E Committee to conduct 30 R&E visits in 2013.

2013 Work Plan – Nurture & Grow

• Work with the Small Business Development Center at Edison Community College on programming for entrepreneurs and small business.

• Partner with the City of Piqua, the Chamber of Commerce, Mainstreet Piqua and the SBDC to host our second annual Business Connect Program.

• Develop a formal plan with the Business & Industry Center at Edison Community College on a business technology incubation/entrepreneur development program.

2013 Work Plan – Advocate & Promote• Host the 4th Annual State of Economic Development Event on

April 18th and highlight significant economic development projects.

• Participate in the Automotive Communities Partnership to capitalize on the re-emergence of the automotive industry.

• Participate as a Board Member in the Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC) and as an active member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) to advocate on behalf of economic development priorities, locally, regionally, and nationally

City Activity YTD• YTD Permit Activity – Total Permits: 63– Total Valuation: $15,954,731

• Assisted two projects with incentives through the Job Creation Rapid Outreach Grant: Industrial Spring Company and Mulligan’s Pub.

• Assisted one company with funding through the USDA Revolving Loan Program: Vestco, Ltd.

City Activity YTD• Twenty (20) prospect inquiries YTD, 16 were for existing

buildings and four (4) were for available land.

• One site visit in January from an automotive parts supplier looking for 25 acres at a rail-served industrial park.

• Continue to work with local manufacturer on a potential expansion project that would result in 25-50 new jobs over the next 3 years.

GPN Activity YTD• GPN has raised $59,400 so far in 2013. We expect to see

another $3500 from US Bank, which will give GPN its best fundraising year since its first membership campaign in 2007.

• GPN has undertaken aggressive consultant engagement, trade show and market mission programs in partnership with the West Central Ohio Development Coalition (WCODC) and JobsOhio.

• GPN and WCODC partnered with JobsOhio on the Hannover Messe Trade Fair in April. The group met with 16 pre-qualified companies over the three day event, which is the largest industrial trade fair in the world.

GPN Activity YTD• Attended two (2) Roundtable events in partnership with the

West Central Ohio Development Coalition. GPN is eligible for reimbursement from JobsOhio for one of these events.

• Attended two (2) Area Development Consultant Forums with the West Central Ohio Development Coalition and JobsOhio. GPN is eligible for reimbursement for both events.

• Participated in the Automotive Communities Partnership (ACP) briefing and site tour of the GM CAMI operations in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada.

GPN Activity YTD• Participated in the Mid-America Economic Development

Council’s (MAEDC) Best Practices Conference and in-person board meeting in early May. I am one of two Board members appointed to represent Ohio.

• Hosted a booth at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) in partnership with Miami Valley Centre Mall and the Mid-America Management Corporation in late May.

• Joined the Dayton Development Coalition on Site Consultant Calls to 14 consultants in Dallas, TX in late May.

GPN Activity Remainder of 2013• Participating in the 3CMA Conference in early September

where the 2013 State of Economic Development is being consider for two (2) awards from the organization.

• Attending the Japan-US Midwest Conference and Japanese HQ Contact program in early September in partnership with JobsOhio.

• Attending the Pack Expo Trade Show with WCODC and meeting prospective companies in late September.
