The Citrix Service Provider Program Welcome to the Citrix Service Provider Program, we’re very happy to have you on board as a valued Citrix partner

and will work with you to build your business delivering hosted services to your clients. This document introduces

you to the Citrix Service Provider Program and outlines the process for acquiring and configuring Citrix product

licenses in your hosting environment. To familiarize yourself with the program we recommend that you review

the Frequently Asked Questions and Citrix Service Provider Program Guide available at www.citrix.com/csp.

Important Notes regarding Citrix Service Provider licensing:

Technical specifications for Citrix products are located at www.citrix.com/products End User Licensing Agreements are located at www.citrix.com/eula All Citrix Service Provider licenses under XenApp, XenDesktop, and VDI-in-a-Box must be set up and

reported as User licenses by setting licenses up as User/Device (this requires XenApp 6.5 or XenDesktop 5.6 or newer versions). Concurrent and perpetual license models are not supported within the Citrix Service Provider Program.

Software updates (Subscription Advantage) are included in Citrix Service Provider licenses, so all new versions are always available to Citrix Service Provider partners upon release. Latest versions can always be downloaded from http://www.citrix.com/downloads.html

Citrix Service Provider business and technical resources are available in the Citrix Service Provider Center of Excellence located at www.citrix.com/csptoolkit using your partner login.

XenDesktop and XenApp licenses must be used in conjunction with the Citrix Usage Collector which will enable partners to track and report on user/device licenses. For more details, see the Citrix Service Provider Center of Excellence partner onboarding section.

Citrix Workspace Suite, unlike XenDesktop and XenApp, is paid for based on a provisioned model, once a license is provisioned to a user then payment is due and continues until the license is de-provisioned.

The Citrix Service Provider Premium Edition also includes the use of additional technologies like App Orchestration, and Hosted Server VDI – software developed specifically for service providers.

The Citrix Service Provider program supports the current version of products as well as previous versions (n-1). All testing and support under the Citrix Service Provider Reference Architecture is based on this n-1 licensing assumption. Citrix Licenses for Citrix Service Providers At this point you have engaged with your local Citrix Service Provider Distributor, completed your application and

signed your agreement. The next step will be to provide your Citrix Service Provider Distributor with a zero dollar

purchase order (also referred to as a stocking order). This order communicates which levels of the program you

plan to use (Base, Premium, VDI Base) and allows Citrix to provide your licenses.

Under the Citrix Service Provider program you have the choice of using the Citrix Premium level, Base level or a

combination of the two for subscriber licenses. Both levels will deliver 1,000 licenses. If you need more than 1,000

licenses to start or at any time thereafter, you may process another stocking order to receive additional licenses.

Many Citrix Service Providers choose to expand their hosted offerings with additional Citrix technologies.

Processing Your Initial Stocking Order

Once approved as a Citrix Service Provider, your Citrix Service Provider Distributor will request a zero dollar

stocking order addressed to Citrix Systems in the following format:

Purchase Order Number Sold to Service Provider, Name and Address Ship to Service Provider, Name and Address Contact Email Address, and Phone Number Organization ID # to be provided by Citrix

Receiving Your Licenses After processing your stocking order you will receive an email advising you that a Citrix Partner Central account

has been set up for you as a new Citrix Service Provider. You will also receive a separate email regarding your

licenses. The license email will advise you to log into Citrix Partner Central where these licenses will be populated

in the Manage Licenses section under the Licensing and Renewals.

Installing Your Licenses Deploy a Citrix license server in your hosting environment and install the licenses provided by your Citrix

distributor. Guidance for downloading, installing and configuring Citrix license servers is documented on

licensing section of Citrix eDocs.

Please Note: All Citrix Service Provider licenses under XenApp, XenDesktop, and VDI-in-a-Box must be configured

as User/Device licenses. A concurrent licensing model is not supported within the program.

Configuring XenApp 6.5 for Premium and Base During XenApp 6.5 installation, select the product edition you’re planning to utilize. Premium and base level map

to XenApp 6.5 product edition as follows:

When using Citrix Service Provider licenses, set the licensing model to be usage-based by selecting

the “XenDesktop user/device” licensing mode (as seen below).Policy-Based Configuration

You also have the option to configure the licensing model, post farm configuration, by setting appropriate XenApp Policies. Below are a screen shots outlining the exact settings for a usage-based model licensing, and individual settings for product edition.

Configuring XenDesktop for Premium The Citrix Service Provider Premium licenses uses XenDesktop configured for the Platinum edition. This

configuration is done using XenDesktop studio. User/Device licensing model is required.

Configuring XenDesktop for Base

The XenDesktop product requires a custom licensing configuration (XenDesktop Advanced) when being used with the Base level Citrix Service Provider license. XenDesktop Advanced Edition is a custom configuration of XenDesktop that only enables XenApp Base functionality.

Technical Support Citrix Service Provider Partners reporting over $300.00 (US dollars) per each month during a full quarter will be

enabled with unlimited 24X7 Citrix Technical Support. When qualifying, a Citrix Service Provider will be notified by

their distributor.

For new partners and those reporting less than $300.00 (US dollars) per month, Citrix Technical Support is

available for purchase through your Citrix Service Provider Distributor. The following support agreement is

available specifically for Citrix Service Providers:

Reporting Usage to Your Citrix Service Provider Distributor As outlined in the Program Guide, as a Citrix Service Provider you have a sixty (60) day grace period before you

begin reporting to your Citrix Service Provider Distributor; this provides time for you to set up your environment

and begin signing customers. Once a customer is billed utilizing Citrix software you must begin reporting and

paying for usage.

You also have the ability to provide customers with a thirty (30) day evaluation before you begin billing them; this

will only apply to customers that are not paying you for your services, once the customer begins paying it is no

longer an evaluation. All evaluations must be reported to your Citrix Service Provider Distributor.

On day 10 of each month you must report usage and evaluations to your Citrix Service Provider Distributor as well

as providing a purchase order for the usage. If you have utilized your 60 day grace period and have not yet begun

billing any customers, you must report zero usage to your Citrix Service Provider Distributor. Once you have

completed your grace period, if you report two months of zero usage, Citrix reserves the right to terminate you

from the program.

The Citrix Service Provider Reporting template, available from your Citrix Service Provider Distributor, must be

entirely completed for all customers being billed for services or provided evaluations.

Single customers with more than 500 users reporting must be identified including name and full address including

postal code and country. This customer information will remain confidential within the program and will only be

used for accurately compensating Citrix sales teams. If a customer explicitly requests to remain anonymous, then

you can provide an anonymous identifier for the customer, with the understanding that you will maintain a file

identifying these customers in case an audit is performed. In all cases the customer information must still include

address, postal code and country.

Your Citrix Service Provider Distributor will provide guidance on when you should provide a purchase order for

your usage and will be responsible for all credit and billing issues.

Citrix Usage Collector The Citrix Usage Collector helps Citrix Service Providers automate the reporting of XenApp and XenDesktop

license usage in their environment. The Usage Collector simplifies and streamlines the process of collecting and

tabulating license usage data that gets reported back to Citrix Distributors.

The Citrix Usage Collector eliminates manual steps involved in collecting license usage across multiple

environments and licensing servers – saving time in reporting. Built in reports are available to view current usage

and forecast cost. Views over configurable time periods are available to understand growth trends and gauge

popularity of demos, customer trials and pre-sales activity.

Using license exceptions, you may identify and manage users on customer trials and those that support service

provider activities such as solution validation, proof-of-concept deployments and technology demonstrations to

ensure these activities come at no cost to service providers.

Important notes on the Citrix Usage Collector:

Product licensing must be configured as user/device licensing using licenses acquired through the Citrix Service Provider program. Configuring products for concurrent licensing is not supported as part of the Citrix Service Provider program. Concurrent license usage will not be collected, viewable or reported using the Citrix Usage Collector.

Product versions XenApp 6.5, XenDesktop 5.6 and newer support the user/device licensing model used by the Citrix Service Provider program and the Citrix Usage Collector. Older versions of XenApp and XenDesktop do not support user/device licensing and thus the Citrix Usage Collector cannot be used to collect license usage for those deployments.

The Citrix Usage Collector scans collection points (license servers) for license usage information daily at midnight and uploads license usage data to Citrix at a random interval each day. License usage data uploaded to Citrix has been stripped of user identifying properties such as usernames. Service providers using the Citrix Usage Collector are still required to submit license use reports through their Citrix Distributor.
