WHAT IS CITIZENSHIP?

• Playing an active part in society is called citizenship.• A good citizen is a blessing to society. He feels that he has certain

responsibilities towards the state, just as the state has certain responsibilities towards him. Thus he is aware of both his privileges and his duties

CONCEPT OF CITIZENSHIP

It is based on three concepts.• Citizenship as a legal statusCitizenship is the status of being a citizen. If you have citizenship in a country, you have the right to live there, work, vote, and pay taxes!• Citizenship as political agent• Citizenship as a membership

• A good citizen always obeys the law and respects authority. • A good citizen always contributes to society and to the community by

performing civic duty.• A good citizen loves his/her country and shows patriotism.• A good citizen shows courtesy and respect for the rights of others.• A good citizen is trust worthy and honest. • A good citizen has tolerance.

• A good citizen has accountability. • A good citizen has moral courage.• A good citizen has responsibility • A good citizen had self discipline. • A good citizen always contributes to society and the community

by performing civic duty.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD CITIZENSHIP

1: Patriotism• A good citizen loves his/her country and shows patriotism.• His foremost duty is his loyalty to the country of his birth. It should be

dearer to him than all his worldly possessions, and he should always be ready to sacrifice everything for its sake.

2: Respect authorities• A good citizen always obeys the laws and respects authorities, respect for self and others

is an important citizenship trait. Self respect allows us to take pride in our behaviors and in our work. Respect for others ensures that everyone of ours genuinely feels a part of a city. Respecting others also means valuing different ideas and points of view.

3: Contribution or participation• A good citizen always contribute to society and the community by performing civic duty.

Strengthening the relationship between the government and public is a basic need. Through participation in various sectors like agriculture, health, education, mass media people can contribute towards it.

4: courtesy• A good citizen shows courtesy and respect for the rights of the others. It is an organize citizenship

behavior.5: Honesty• A good citizen is trustworthy and honest. Honesty is the important characteristic of good

citizenship. Everyone is expected to be honest in their work, leisure and relationships with others. Choosing to be truthful in whatever you say and do.

6: Tolerance• A good citizen has tolerance. Respecting others’ opinions and ways of life is also important.

Everyone has right to his or her own opinions and belief all of these different people to get along. Citizens must respect and accept others. This is called tolerance.

7: Moral courage• A good citizen has moral courage. It means doing the things that may be difficult or

unpopular in order to help others8: Responsibility or accountability• A good citizen has responsibility. It is the skill of becoming accountable and responding

wisely. Individual should take responsibility for their learning and social well being and recognize their duty to represent our country. Citizenship carries certain responsibilities because being a citizen provides a person with certain privileges and rights and in this way state has also expect some responsibilities from citizen. Citizen should preserve the constitution.

9: Self discipline• A good citizen has self discipline. Self discipline is having self control. • Self discipline is when you full on the rules. • Speak kind words to each other.• Listen and follow direction.• Keep your hands feet and object to yourself.

10: Perseverance • A good citizen has perseverance. It is the quality in which you don’t give up to complete

a task whatever difficulties you found. 11: Respect all nationality• A good citizen respects his fellows in society either they are citizen or aliens.12: Compassion• Tries to serve others before himself / herself. It is the emotion when you genuinely care

for other people and living things. Our compassion enables us to think about others and to see the importance of their needs. 

13: passion for equality Believe in equality of opportunity for all people. 14: RespectRespect individual differences and ways of life that differ from their own.

SUGGESTIONS

• As a member of any society or being a part of any country we all should understand our duties.

• We should care for our country instead of our personal matters. • As a country gives us place to live, it gives us an identity and we enjoy many

facilities as a member of a country then in return it is our duty to be a good citizen. • As countries army protect us, government doctors protects our lives and treat us in

less wages then it is also our duty as a citizen that we should support them and in severe conditions to pay discipline.

• We should respect others in society

• Respect the poverty of others.• Take responsibility of your actions.• Be a good neighbor• Protect the environment.• Not allow anyone to spoil your countries image. Or destroy your public

places by doing some wrong activity.• Be honest and trustworthy.

CONCLUSION

• We conclude from this presentation that it is duty of each and every person of society to be a good citizen because it is very necessary for the smooth running of a country.
