FISH BITES The Marlins and Phillies play game two of this weekend series tonight at 7:05 p.m. Miami will hand the ball to right- hander Tom Koehler, who is 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA (37.2 ip/18 er) in eight career appearances (six starts) against the Phil- lies. Miami has won his last four starts against the Phils, while Koehler has a 2-0 record and 3.38 ERA (24.0/9) over that span. Philadelphia will call on righty Chad Billingsley, who is 4-0 with a 2.76 ERA in eight career appearances (seven starts) against the Marlins. This series is the first leg of a 10-day, 10-game road trip for the Fish; they move on from here to visit Arizona (July 20-22) and San Diego (July 23-26). Miami closed out the first half with a 3-1 series win over Cincinnati in a brief four-game homestand at Marlins Park. VS. THE PHILLIES Miami leads the season series thus far, 4-3, and is 7-4 in its last 11 meetings with Philadelphia overall. This is the second of three trips to the City of Brotherly Love for the Marlins this season; they landed a 2-1 series win here from April 21-23, out-scoring the Phillies 15-2 in the final two games. Philadelphia leads the all-time series, 201-165, and has a more pro- nounced lead of 114-70 in Philly (63-44 at CBP). Miami has won three of its last five games at CBP, but is just 17-35 since it closed out the 2009 campaign with a loss here, which snapped a franchise-best six-game winning streak at the venue. LAST NIGHT Errors by the Marlins in the sixth and eighth innings last night led to multi-run frames for the Phillies, who earned a 6-3 comeback win. Miami took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Justin Bour. After going down, 2-1, Cole Gillespie tied the game in the seventh with a two-out, RBI double. A run-scoring error and a three-run, pinch-hit home run by Jeff Francoeur in the eighth secured a win for Philadelphia, however. Jose Fernandez threw 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk, with six strikeouts. J.T. Realmuto added his fifth home run of the season in the ninth. A NOT SO BOURING JULY Justin Bour is batting .333 (14x42) through the first 12 games of July, with four doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI and a .643 slugging percentage. He trails only Carlos Gomez (15) for RBI this month, and has already set a new personal career high for a single month, his previous being eight in May of 2015. He has provided much-needed pop in the lineup since Giancarlo Stanton went on the disabled list on June 27. Since that date, Bour is batting .327 (16x49) with four home runs and 15 RBI, has a .538 (7x13) average with RISP, and is slugging .673. No other Marlins’ player has double-digit RBI in that time. - Stats LLC BLUES TRAVELERS There has been a stark contrast between Miami’s performances at home versus on the road since month and a half. Since June 2, Miami is 14-7 at home, compared to 4-13 on the road. The Club also has a +34 run differential at home (91-57), a 2.57 ERA, and a .270 batting average, compared to marks of -36 (47-83), 4.46, and .230 on the road. Tom Koehler has also had hard times on the road. Despite a solid overall showing in the first half, with a 7-5 record and 3.40 ERA, he was just 3-4 with a 5.07 ERA (49.2 ip/28 er) and .278 average against in nine starts away from South Florida. He had a pinch-hit double in his return to Miami on July 10 vs. the Reds, was 2x5 with a run scored and two RBI on July 11, going 2x2 with runners in scoring position, and was 1x4 with a two-run double to drive in the game-winning runs on July 12. McGehee, who appeared in 160 games for Miami last season, had the third-most multi-hit games in 2014 by a player joining a new team (49), according to Stats LLC, behind Robinson Cano (56) and Ian Kinsler (55). AUTOMATIC (STRIKE)OUT Carter Capps had a streak of 18 consecutive relief appearances with a strikeout snapped last night. It was the second- longest run in Club history. Only Steve Cishek, who fanned a batter in 21 straight relief appearances from August 22, 2013-April 22, 2014, had a longer streak. However, Capps’s run was the longest single-season streak in Club history, ahead of 13-game runs by six other relievers, most recently Doug Waechter from April 29-June 6, 2008. It was the fifth- longest in the Majors this season, behind Cody Allen (29, from April 29-July 8), Craig Kimbrel (21, from May 2-June 26), and Dellin Betances (21, active & 19, from April 10-May 19).
