would be worth over $5 million in revenue to your $10 million company. The client seeks to ensure thatyour small organization has the technical acumen to prepare, guide, and assess merging the twocompany networks.
Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
1. Prepare an opening statement that specifies your organizations capabilities to manage adeployment of this size.
2. Graphically depict and effectively promote your companys structured development and servicesusing Visio or its open source alternative software. Note:The graphically depicted solution is notincluded in the required page length.
3. Explain what the client can expect from your services.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on allsides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with yourprofessor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the students name, the professorsname, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included inthe required assignment page length.
Include charts or diagrams created in Visio or Dia. The completed diagrams / charts must beimported into the Word document before the paper is submitted.

Assignment 2: Network Topology Design
Due Week 4 and worth 50 points
You are the network manager of a company that has grown from 10 employees to 100 employees in 12months. Year 2 projected growth is estimated to be 100 additional employees located at a remote
location. The aggressive growth has brought about some unique challenges and opportunities. Thecompany has one remote warehouse and no off-site disaster recovery services or servers. The networkdesign remains a non-redundant, flat topology.
Your assignment must consider the three-layer hierarchical model. You are free to make supportedassumptions of the applications and services that this organization uses.
Write a one (1) page paper in which you:
1. Depict a network topology graphical model of the initial environment of 10 employees using Visioor its open source alternative software. Note:The graphically depicted solution is not included inthe required page length.
2. Depict a network topology graphical model of the current 100 employees using Visio or its open
source alternative software. Note:The graphically depicted solution is not included in therequired page length.
3. Depict a network topology graphical model for future growth to 200 employees using Visio or itsopen source alternative software. Note:The graphically depicted solution is not included in therequired page length.

Assignment 5: Technical Term Paper (Part B)
Due Week 10 and worth 150 points
The Technical Term Paper will include the detailed response to the network design request. Thedocument will be submitted in MS Word and will be between 10-15 pages with graphics embedded within
the document.
Background
You are a small network design company called Wide-IP that is looking for that big break. As the CTO ofthe Wide-IP company, you recently made a persuasive presentation of your companys approach todesigning networks at a large industry event. The CEO of Fiction Corporation, a large retail chain, wasimpressed by your presentation. It looks like youve finally got your break!
You have a small team of 10 technically proficient staffers with a strong background in projectmanagement, networking, and internetworking skills that include PMP, Network+, CCNP, and CISSPcredentials.
You have been selected by Fiction Corporation to develop a network design document and plan withoutan RFP.
Overview
Fiction Corporation, a large national retail chain of 10,000 employees and 500 retail outlets, is migratingits one primary data center operation to a new headquarters building several miles away. The companywishes to upgrade its network and correct any security flaws in its infrastructure as part of this move. TheFiction CEO has informed you that the capital budget for this migration cannot exceed $500,000 and mustnot interrupt business operations. What follows is a brief background that will serve as your foundation indeveloping the network design.
The data in the center supports remote retail locations, an off-site 100 seat call center and 3 remotewarehousing operations 24 hours a day with annual uptime at 99.9%. Any significant downtime to itsproduction systems would impact Fiction Corporations operations and profitability. From the dataprocessing viewpoint, the move includes 2 large UPS, 4 RS/6000 AIX application servers, 10 virtualizedservers and 20 PC servers.
The network consists of approximately 500 remote location retail stores connected via frame relay (withISDN backup) to 10 routers at the data center running a common LAN shared by the entire organization. The retail operations also run WLANs that are on its own subnet. You will have a T1 link and ISDN as aprimary backup. Network managers also need to monitor the status of remote systems. The SNMPmanagement system must be able to detect and report failure of the remote system or its communicationslink and the status of individual applications.
The company wishes a seamless migration that minimizes impact to its customers and employees. Anygaps in this background will require you to make sound technical and persuasive assumptions that satisfythe customers goals that are within the budget guidelines.
You were selected in part due to your detailed analysis and agreement to an implementation cost that willnot exceed $500,000. Your network migration plan will be in phases with noted milestones. Key to thesuccess of this plan is the availability of a T1 link between the remote sites to support remote bridging
and development of configurations for all the remote routers.
Include the following in your assignment:
1. Title page
2. Table of contents
3. Executive summary
4. Project goal
5. Project scope

Instructional materials are obtained through the universitys virtual bookstore and can be accessed
through iCampus:http:bookstore.mbsdirect.net/strayer.htm.Courses with Internet-based assignmentsand activities on publisher sites may require the purchase of onetime access codes. When purchasingused textbooks, a separate access code purchase will be necessary.
Discussions
Students taking this course online are required to post their discussions to a weekly thread in the onlinecourse shell. Respond to at least two (2) other students posts to earn full credit for each discussion. As itis always possible that you could lose your work due to unforeseen circumstances, you should routinelysave your work in a separate file before posting in the course discussion area.
Professors hold discussions during class time for on-ground students. Check with your professor if anyadditional discussion participation is required in the online course shell outside of class hours.
Tests
Tests (quizzes, midterm and final exams, essay exams, lab tests, etc.) are available for student accessand completion through the online course shell. Check the online course shell to determine how you areexpected to take the tests.
Online students are to complete the test by Sunday midnight the week the test is due.
On-ground students are to complete the tests after the material is covered and before the nextclass session.
Assignments
A standardized performance grading rubric is a tool your professor will use to evaluate your written
assignments. Review the rubric before submitting assignments that have grading rubrics associated withthem to ensure you have met the performance criteria stated on the rubric.
Grades are based on individual effort. There is no group grading; however, working in groups in theonline or on-ground classroom is acceptable.
Assignments for online students are always submitted through the online course shell . On-groundprofessors will inform students on how to submit assignments, whether in paper format or through theonline course shell.
