Budget issues submitted to the

Governor and Legislature by

the Department to enhance the

HFF core staffing by adding a

licensed clinician to provide

in-home counseling to better

serve families with Substance

Abuse, Domestic Violence and

Mental Health issues did not

Strategy 3: By June 30, 2015, Circuit 14 will have implemented a faith-based prevention initiative that would

provide for either universal or targeted efforts in which the faith community is engaged to provide family and

community supports that would build the protective factors identified in the Family Strengthening Initiative.

Objective Status Summary/Action Needed

Objective 3.1 Develop systems for

identifying existing and/or needed

faith oriented child abuse

prevention resources available

across the faith community that

strengthen families in the Circuit

by June 30, 2011.

On-going Continue partnership with One Church One Child.

Objective 3.2 Develop county-

level strategies to engage at least

two faith-based and community-

based systems in the promotion of

child abuse prevention with

emphasis on social connections,

concrete support in times of need,

and knowledge of parenting and

child development in each of the

six counties in Circuit 14 by June

30, 2012.

On-going DJJ Faith Community Network and One Church One Child. Big Bend Community Based Care, Life

Management Center and Department of Children

and Families came together at a Prayer Breakfast

with One church One Child to recruit Foster

Parents. The DJJ Community Network is comprised

of pastors from Circuit 14, State Attorney’s Office,

DJJ, DCF and various other agencies that meet

monthly to discuss how we can increase

participation from the faith-based community to

deliver services to the children and parents.

Objective 3.3 Achieve full

implementation and support of the

faith –based initiatives in Circuit

14 by June 30, 2015.

On-going Continue partnerships that have been established to

ensure that all agencies are working together

towards goal.

Strategy 4: By June 30, 2015, Circuit 14 will have year round public awareness efforts with an emphasis in

April that provides information to the general population on child development, positive parenting practices and

community action.

Objective Status Summary/Action Needed

Objective 4.1 Ensure high level of

awareness of Pinwheels for

Prevention™ Campaign.

On-going Hold annual events each April, distribute pinwheels and child abuse prevention information to the community, and provide articles to the media.

Objective 4.2Increase knowledge

of child development to members

in our community.

On-going Each member of the Alliance has opportunities to educate on a daily basis through various aspects of interaction with the community. The Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida (ELCNWF) gives a copy of the Family

Development-A Caregivers Guide and goes over the

guide in a face-to-face parent skill building session

with each family who receives School Readiness

services. Prevention efforts have become second nature to all

involved. The Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy

Center has taken the lead on this project with the

support of the Department of Children and

Families, community based care, and other

prevention programs. Social media , print and

television media, as well as year round

proclamation s regarding child abuse prevention,

domestic violence, mental health , human

trafficking , etc.. have been embraced by our city

and county governments. Instead of these efforts

being conducted independently by multiple

organizations we have taken a community, year

round approach over the last several years.

Objective 4.3 Increase knowledge

of positive parenting practices.

On-going Quality Parenting Initiative(QPJ)

Objective 4.4 Increase knowledge

of community supports and social

connections.

On-going Participation by agencies in each county in the following: health fairs, resource fairs, back to school events and

perception that child abuse and

neglect can be prevented before it

ever occurs.

On-going There are various community forums that

prevention efforts are discussed to ensure

community education is on-going

Strategy 5: Circuit 14 will support families caring for children in crisis.

Objective Status Summary/Action Needed

to unrealistic expectations of child

through an increased

understanding of the principles of

child development.

On-going Love & Logic Parenting classed provided at Child Advocacy Center, Quality Parenting Initiative by Big Bend Community Based Care and 2 I I through United Way.

Objective 5.2 Increase systematic

communication between partners

in order to reduce duplicative

goals and requirements for

caregivers while increasing

organized support to assist

families in reach sequential

On-going Community Alliance meetings are held on a regular basis to ensure the need s of those we serve are being meet.

United we Stand: Partners for Quality Parenting Panel The

Summit Conference

Wednesday, September 3, 2014: 4:15-5:30 p.m.

Topic focus for the panel is Partnership, &: involving case management.

QPI projects in which Circuit 14 have done to successfully break down barriers with case

management:

• Joint home visits to Foster Parents between Licensing Counselors &: Case

Management. Purpose is to ensure that Foster Parents see that we are all on one

team Gust different components of the team.)

• Sunshine Partnership: Quarterly meetings with Licensing &: Case Managers in Lead

Supervisory positions. Purpose is to connect with one another &: discuss things that

need improvement &: ways to make the system work efficiently as a whole. *This has

been very beneficial and we have seen great change within interdepartmental culture.

• Alleviating Case Management from tasks: Case Management is often overloaded and

historically, referrals for subsidized daycare requests have not been completed in a

timely manner. BBCBC's Placement department is now completing the referrals

during initial placement with Foster Parents. *Early Learning Coalition.

• Communicating efficiently &: promptly: Licensing Counselors have made an extra

effort to ensure that Foster Parents are notified &: invited to attend permanency

staffing's. Both Case Management&: Licensing should both be informing the Foster

Parents of important staffing's.
