CINEC signs MOU with NCE CINEC Maritime Campus pioneers in maritime education in Sri Lanka recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with prestigious National Chamber of Exporters Sri Lanka The core objective is to explore possibilities of using CINEC expertise for the benefit of NCE membership. The approach agreed by both parties was to develop a long term partnership between CINEC and NCE. The Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) has embarked on a development agenda based on the Mahinda Chintanaya with the objective of converting the country to a Naval, Aviation, Commercial, Energy and Knowledge hub in Asia. In keeping with this objective, in the recent years, the GoSL has invested heavily in developing the required infrastructure and the improvement of information and communication technology. Available information illustrate that Sri Lanka has made steady progress in the three areas. Indices that are used to compare performance of countries show that Sri Lanka has progressed quite well. In the Global Competiveness Index (GCI) there was a marked increase in 2012-2013 with a GCI of 52 out of 142 and a score of 4.3 out of 7. Sri Lanka has posted positive indicators in doing business across borders. In 2007, Sri Lanka was ranked 99 out of 185 countries and by 2013 the country has improved in its rank to 56.

CINEC Maritime Campus pioneers in maritime education in Sri Lanka recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with prestigious National Chamber of Exporters Sri Lanka

CINEC Maritime Campus as a responsible training and education institute in Sri Lanka has identified the key role played by the members of National Chamber of Exporters in the country’s development and the need for capacity building in the trade to cater the emerging trends and demands. The NCE is the only private sector Chamber which exclusively serves Sri Lankan Exporters and is the ‘Voice of the Exporter’. Incorporated in 1994 The Chamber has a membership of over 450 export oriented companies covering all products & most services sectors, as well as service providers to exporters . The Chamber has continued to serve its members with commitment and dedication. The Council of the Chamber which includes Sector Heads of Product Sectors is the policy making body of the Chamber. A Management Committee which includes office bearers supervises the operational aspects of the Chamber. CINEC was established in 1990 and is a highly recognized

and respected for Maritime, Logistics and Transport related professional education in Sri Lanka. As the accredited training institute in Sri Lanka for Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the United Kingdom (CILT) and also an institute approved by the Director General of Merchant Shipping to conduct Freight Forwarding course for the purpose of applying for Licenses it makes an effective contribution to professional education in Sri Lanka. CINEC is the Training and Education partner for Ceylon Association of Ships Agents for decades and it will be the official Training and Education partner for NCE as well in the future.
