Cine Low Cost és un cicle que pretén analitzar un nou tipus de cinema amb forta vocació autoral i amb poc pressupost, que neix en el marc de la crisi econòmica global i de la indústria del cinema en particular, a banda d’una democratització tecnològica que permet el sorgiment de noves firmes. Les veus més autoritzades de la producció, la crítica (Marcos Ordóñez, Jordi Costa, Quim Casas), els festivals (Sitges), les noves plataformes (Filmin) i els autors (noms com Nacho Vigalondo, Juan Cavestany, Borja Cobeaga, Santiago Lorenzo, Carlos Vermut, J. A. Bayona, Joaquín Reyes, Carlo Padial o Venga Monjas, entre altres) debatran sobre aquest canvi de paradigme. Cine Low Cost ha implicat a les escoles de cinema de Barcelona, el videoclub online Filmin ofereix un pack de pel·lícules amb el segell del cicle i Fotogramas és el mitjà oficial.
