Dr. Niles Goins will discuss what true collaboration looks like as true collaboration is necessary, at both the micro and mac-ro-levels, in order to foster student success.

Dr. Niles Goins is a professor of communication at California State University, Fresno. Dr. Niles Goins received a Bachelor

of Arts in Communication at Oakwood College, a Master of Arts in Organizational and Small Group Communication at Howard University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational and Small Group Communication at Howard University.

Dr. Niles Goins uses cultural approaches to teach Organizational Communication, Small Group Communication, Gender Communication, and Special Event planning courses through a variety of methods: in-person, hybrid (tablet), and fully online. She joined the faculty at California State University, Fresno in Fall 2007. Dr. Niles Goins has taught several courses at Howard University, the University of Iowa, and George Mason University, including Gender Roles and Communication and Organizational Communication.

Dr. Niles Goins has several articles and book chapters published, including pieces in The Routledge Handbook of Applied Communication Research, Communication Studies, and Journal of the Alliance of Black School Educators. She is also co-editor of and contributor to a published book about the experiences of women of color in the academy. It is entitled, Still Searching for Our Mothers’ Gardens: Experiences of New, Tenure-Track Women of Color at ‘Majority’ Institutions.

Dr. Niles Goins is President Elect of the Western States Communication Association, serves on the Executive Committee of the National Communication Association, and is Immediate Past President of the Organization for Research on Women and Commu-nication.

An overview of how Fresno Pacific University is integrating and communicating Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) pathways into similar FPU bachelor’s degree programs

Articulation Integration Across Campus Steamboat Facilitated by Ceci Herrmann, Erica Lassen, Jenni Robinson, and Letitia Senechal

How is the role of the articulation officer situated at your campus? Do you notice that staff or faculty in other areas do not seem to “get” articulation? Are you identifying opportunities to make a difference but not sure how to move forward? The presenters will examine the landscape relevant to integrating the expertise and work of articulation into the needs and objectives of other stakeholders on campus.

AB 705 and Prerequisites Central Pacific Facilitated by Michelle Pilati, Rio Hondo College and Craig Rutan, ASCCC

AB 705 (Irwin, 2017) is legislation regarding student placement practices in order to access transfer level coursework with parameters around when a student could be required to take remedial coursework. In this breakout, the requirements of student placement and regulations regarding prerequisites on Course Outlines of Record will be clarified in light of the potential impact on articulation.

Hot Topics in CSU GE Transfer Central Pacific Facilitated by the CSU CO: Dr. Jason Sexton, Quajuana Chapman, and Karen Simpson-Alisca

This session will address some of the biggest challenges within the purview of the CSU GE transfer, exploring three topics that have been consistent flashpoints of intersegmental conversation among AOs and the CSUCO: the appropriation of the external exam chart; the calculation of pass along units from quarter to semester units; and the development of stretch courses

Guided Pathways Program Mapping: Steamboat How and why Articulation needs to be at the table. Facilitated by Carolyn Jackson and Mark Osea

This session will provide a brief history of how Bakersfield College and Cabrillo College accomplished this project, “Program Mapping 101” insights, tips, tricks, and pitfalls, as well as provide support and rationale of the need for Articulation Officers and Counseling faculty to be front and center in the mapping process.

C-ID Staff Meet and Greet Schoolhouse Facilitated by C-ID Staff and C-ID AO Group Members

Come meet the C-ID staff and the C-ID AO subgroup. Brief C-ID website training and tips will be shared to facilitate painless submission and use of C-ID web resources. A brief audience question and answer session will conclude the presentation, time permitting.

From ASSIST to Student Transcripts: A conversation about the importance of consistent curriculum man-agement data and an understanding the negative impacts non-consistent data can have on our students from reviewing student transcripts to processing transfer credit.
