Stained Glass Stations of the Cross! On display in our sanctuary is some stained glass artwork made by our parishioner Clyde Eckler. He has once again used his talents for the glory of God. We will be creating an outdoor Stations walk later this summer. The location will be in the back near the woods, and Clyde has graciously agreed to create this lovely artwork for each station. Al Williamson will be creating a wooden 'house' for each station to rest in. Al is also a talented crafts-man and we are very fortunate to have these gen-tlemen part of our parish family.

How everything in the Catholic Church points to Heaven

Have you ever sat in church and looked around, not fully understanding all the vessels, vestments and articles surrounding you? Each week we will explore one item, why it’s relevant, so you can appreciate the beauty and depth of our Catholic Faith. We hope you will go into church, find the item, and watch how it is used in the Mass. God bless us in our journey.

Chalice: The Chalice is a sacred cup that holds the wine that becomes the Precious Blood of Jesus. It has its own vestment cloth, called a chalice veil, which is draped over the chalice and matches the

colors the priest is wearing. Chalices are made of either gold or silver, so as not to rust, break easily or be porous. During the Mass, the priest places a few drops of water into the chalice with the wine signifying our humanity joining Jesus' divinity. In the Gospels of the New Testament, Jesus celebrated the Passover meal using a cup filled with wine at the Last Supper in Jerusalem. It was here, 2,000 years ago, that Jesus first said the words of consecration. Our parish priests have the authority to say those same words to consecrate the bread and wine at Mass for us. (The Sacred that Surrounds Us by Andrea Zachman. Published by Ascension Press, 2019)

John 14: 23-29

Priest Appreciation

We would like to begin a tradition after the Sunday Mass of sending Father Paul back to Binghamton with a meal for him to enjoy. Please sign up in the vestibule for the Sunday of your choice. We request the meal to be in a disposable container and either frozen or ready for him to cook/reheat at home. Fa-ther Paul spends the weekend in Chenango County, serving St. Josephs in Oxford and ICC in Greene. This is just a small way of saying thank you for be-ing part of our parish family. "One act of kindness can change the world"

Dear friends, Our church has offered studies on the Journey through the Bible, on the books of the New Testa-ment, on the young men called by Jesus to be his Apostles, and most recently on Mary Magdalene. They give us background knowledge, so that when we hear the Bible readings during Mass, we can immediately understand who was speaking and why, as well as who was the intended audience for the story. All of a sudden, you've brought the story to life! This week’s readings are from Revelation. What do you know about that last book in the Bible? Well, we know it was written by the Apostle John. When did we first hear his name? First remember that Jesus walked with his disciples only 3 years before he died. During this time, Jesus referred to John and his brother James as the Sons of Thunder. As new disci-ples, they were energetic young men, quick to action, and always ready for a battle to defend what they believed. Do you know young people like that? I bet you can think back over the years of someone that fits that description! Now fast forward to the end of John's life. He is the last of the living Apostles. All the rest have been martyred. He is imprisoned on the Island of Patmos. He isn’t young and energetic anymore! The Christian community sees him as old and wise. And luckily his visions are recorded in the book of Revelation for us. He knew his Jewish histo-ry well, as the Book of Revelation is full of prophecy fulfillments of the Old Testament. When you’re at Mass this weekend, try to listen to the second read-ing that the Lector reads. Old, wise John paints a dazzling picture of the new Jerusalem. I hope this plants a little seed that will grow into you joining me in the fall for The Great Adventure Bible Study. We'll travel over 24 weeks through the Bible. It will change your life! A quick thank you to everyone who helped with the funeral and luncheon for Dee Smith and her family. Please pray for our friends that need encouragement. This parish is a blessing to this community and a blessing to me. Peace!-Mary Wentlent

Marian Memorial Garden

If you would like to make a donation to the upkeep of our Marion Garden, please use one of the envelopes

found in the vestibule.

Please consider being on the garden team. Weekly wa-tering and care of the spent flowers is usually the only necessary care needed. Contact Mary Wentlent for info.

To the Parishioners of ICC

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for everything that you have done for me during my recent illness. Your thoughts and prayers meant so very much to me. I want to especially thank the Knights of Columbus for sponsoring the Benefit Breakfast that was held for me. You guys are amazing! A special thanks to Anita Urda, Mary Wentlent, and Bonnie Norton for organizing the basket raffles and donations. Thanks to every-one who participated in any way during the event. Thank you all so very much. A special thank you to my parents for caring for me while I was with them and for their continued love and support. I could not have done it without them. Thank you all again and may God Bless and keep you! Maureen Kimble

The Husband Family would like to thank everyone who attended, participated, donated, etc. at the Fund Raiser Breakfast last week for our daughter Maureen Kimble who has been very sick and out of work for 3+ months. Our parish family is “unbelievable” and without all the prayers & God we would not have been able to get through all this mayhem. Thank you, Pat & Gary

Novena to the Holy Spirit S The Novena to the Holy Spirit is the oldest Nove-na of the Church. It represents the nine days that elapsed between our Lord’s Ascension and the de-scent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the Apostles and disciples gathered in the Upper Room in Jerusa-lem. S The Novena to the Holy Spirit is a wonderful way to pray for a new outpouring of the Spirit on our own lives, on our Parish and on the world. S The Novena to the Holy Spirit begins on the day after Ascension Thursday, that is, on Friday, May 31st. To participate, please pick up a copy of the Novena in the vestibule.
