Holy Trinity
@ The Food Bank Of Lincoln
Holy Trinity will again help with the
Summer Backpack Program at the Lincoln Food
Bank. As in the past, the summer program begins in
June and finishes up the second week of August. This
is your chance to make a real difference for hungry
children in Lincoln. Join Holy Trinity’s team of
volunteers assembling backpacks of food for
distribution to food insecure students from the
Lincoln Public Schools. We can make a difference in
the lives of Lincoln families…. And it is super fun as
well. There is a sign-up sheet on the table in the
foyer. ~~Thank you!!–Community Ministry
Trinity Sunday Picnic June 11
Join us for the summer celebration of our patron feast
day, Holy Trinity Sunday. We will convene after the
10:30 service on the south lawn for our annual picnic.
Hot dogs will be provided. Bring a chair, a dish to
share and a friend!
Altar Flowers for the Summer
If you wish to celebrate a special
occasion or remember loved ones with
flowers for the altar, several dates are
available in June, July and August.
Although the church incurs a cost of
$75 each week for altar flowers, you
are welcome to give any amount with
which you are comfortable. If you are interested,
please call Nancy Stara, 402-489-0739 for more
information.
THIS WEEK! June 4 at 4 p.m.
At Vega in the Haymarket
Bell-issimo, Lincoln's Community
Handbell Choir directed by Nancy
Youngman, will present a concert
at Vega, 350 Canopy Street in the
Haymarket.
Come on down for a free concert, featuring
music from Glenn Miller, to the Beach Boys, to
Coldplay. This concert will feature instrumentalists
as well as the ringers and will be a fun family
afternoon. There will be food and drink available for
purchase. We hope all will come to support the work
of this outstanding group.
Reconvening on June 15th at 6 pm in the church
During Lent we started a centering prayer group. We
met weekly to pray in silence together, and to explore
what centering prayer meant to us. We agreed to
reconvene after Lent on a monthly basis. This is your
invitation to join us in prayer and conversation. We
will meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6 pm in
the sanctuary. Everyone is invited, whether you are just
exploring this type of prayer, or new to it, as well as
regular practitioners. Questions-please talk with Rev.
Susanna.
During the summer, our newsletter will change to this
format. You will receive it monthly as usual. We are
able to update it weekly as needed, and will have it
available at church with your bulletins. You can
always check the website calendar for a full list of
events coming up.

Holy Trinity Book Store Review
The Weight of Glory
by C. S. Lewis
reissued by Harper One $13.99
Here is a collection of addresses
delivered by C. S. Lewis during the
complex and difficult years of
World War II. Known as one of
the best Christian writers of the 20th century, his
sermon entitled “The Weight of Glory” is considered
to be one of his most profound, extolling compassion
and hope, faith, forgiveness, and Christian virtue.

You Can’t Touch My Hair by Phoebe Robinson
From Amazon: Being a black woman in America
means contending with old prejudices and fresh
absurdities every day. Comedian Phoebe Robinson has
experienced her fair share over the years: she's been
unceremoniously relegated to the role of "the black
friend," as if she is somehow the authority on all things
racial; she's been questioned about her love of U2 and
Billy Joel ("isn’t that . . . white people music?"); she's
been called "uppity" for having an opinion in the
workplace; she's been followed around stores by
security guards; and yes, people do ask her whether
they can touch her hair all. the. time. Now, she's ready
to take these topics to the page—and she’s going to
make you laugh as she’s doing it. Please note change
in day of the week.
Dinner & a Movie:
Friday June 23rd
6pm in the Parish Hall
Movie of the night-
Lion Our first movie of this summer series is
Lion. Based on the true story of a young
Indian boy adopted by Australian parents, it traces the
life story as he recovers his past and how he ended up a
continent away from his mother. We will have our
Holy Spirit potluck before we watch the movie. Bring
whatever you want to, and consider bringing a
comfortable chair for the viewing.
Next movie & date: Loving on Friday, July 14th
Coffee Break
Tuesday, June 13th, 2:30pm.
Come and join St. Elizabeth Guild for
a visiting time with coffee, tea and
dessert. Men and women of all ages are invited to
attend. Sally Bates and Kathy Jacobson are the
afternoon’s hostesses.
Mary Ann and I wish to thank you
for the cards and best wishes for
our 70th wedding anniversary. We
especially appreciate the brief but
so meaningful part of the service
and blessing by Rev. Susanna. 37% of our married
life has been nourished at this altar with you.
