FAREWELL RECEPTION FOR FRATHER FRANCOIS!! Mark your calendar!!! On Sunday, June 25 we will host a reception for Father Francois after the 9:30AM Mass in the Reverend John Horgan Parish Center. Coffee, tea, fruit juices and pastry will be served. The reception is hosted by the Ladies Guild, Knights of Columbus, high school club and a few men of the parish.

All are invited to attend the 9:30AM Mass followed by the reception and wish Father Francois well in his next priestly assignment. Father will be the homilist at all Masses that weekend. Let’s make this a family affair.

The Archdiocese of Hartford welcomes inquiries from men seeking to serve the Church as priests or deacons and from men and women who are

discerning a vocation to the consecrated life as a religious brother or sister. Call Vocations, Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary, Tel. 860-761-7456, e-mail [email protected] or visit the web at www.vocationshartford.org.

Saturdays 9:00AM at the Center Road Church. The opportunity

for “confession/reconciliation” should be a primary objective of

every follower of JESUS. All are urged to celebrate this

sacrament.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS!!

Religious Education Summer Hours

During the summer the Religious Education Office will be open Monday—Wednesday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Summer hours have begun.

Registration for the 2017-2018 Religious Education year are being accepted now! First grade children and students who will be new to the program in the fall should be registered as soon as possible. Baptismal certificates are required at the time of registration if children were not baptized here at Our Lady of the Assumption.

Please support those who make this bulletin possible! Whenever possible we ask parishioners to patronize the advertisers who appear on the back page of our bulletin. Please tell the place of business where you saw their advertisement. We are grateful to those who utilize the parish bulletin by placing an ad with us.

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY

We welcome to God’s family through the Sacrament of Baptism MARCO RUDOLPH LOMBARDI, son of Nicholas & Victoria Lombardi, DANIEL WILLIAM BOLTON, son of William & Elizabeth Bolton,

LANDON MANUEL VILLACIS AND CAMERON

VICENTE VILLACIS, sons of Fabien & Susie Villacis. We rejoice with their parents and offer our prayers of

support as they begin the awesome task of raising their

child/children in the Catholic faith

The expectant parents who wish to have their child baptized are asked to call the rectory at 387-7119 to prepare properly for this joyous celebration. Attendance at the pre-baptismal program conducted by the parish staff is required. The Archdiocese of Hartford mandates this program prior to baptism. Baptisms are held on the first and third Sundays of each month. Please call Denise at the rectory to register.

Please be aware that there are now stricter legal and ethical guidelines regarding the dissemination of patient information from hospitals to churches and clergy. In addition, today’s shorter hospital stays make timely pastoral visit difficult at best. Therefore, if you have occasion to be hospitalized and desire pastoral support, you or a family member should do two things. Notify the rectory of the hospitalization as soon as possible. Also, upon admission to the hospital you will be asked if you desire to have your religious affiliation noted as part of your medical record. Please state both your denomination and parish. If you fail to do either of the above, your parish priest may have no way of knowing your needs.

Mother Church Project!!! Beginning Tuesday, June 13 we will be replacing the front entrance

sidewalks at the Mother Church. The old sidewalks will be removed and the area will be resurfaced. This is necessary as mandated by our Archdiocesan Insurance Company. Due to this project we will not use the Mother Church for Masses from Tuesday, June 13 through Sunday, June 18. Masses at the Mother Church will resume the regular schedule on Monday morning, June 19. All masses will be held at Center Road Church.

JUNE 11, 2017

“Come to the Table” is a program we have set up which provides non-perishable food items to families “at any time” during the year; based on request. Should you know

of a family in need, please call Denise at the church office (#387-7119). All family names will be kept strictly confi-dential.

The food pantry, which supplies food for the Come to the Table program, is “ALWAYS” in need of new inventory; year round. Financial contributions and donations of non-perishable food items are always needed to keep this pro-gram up and running. Please leave your donations in the rear of either church.

The recent Social Action fundraising breakfast was a huge success, thanks to those who not only bought tickets for the event, but joined in on the theme

basket raffle as well. The parishioners who made up the baskets were, as always, very creative and generous, and an integral part of our fundraising efforts.

The breakfast raises money towards helping those in the community who are less fortunate, by stocking our pantry, and then distributing food baskets during the major holi-days.

Our goals as a committee would not be reached without the help of the people on Social Action (and in many in-stances, their friends ), who give of their time and talent to put together the breakfast---there are those who help shop; those who set up the hall to transform it into a warm and inviting room, with beautiful flowers or greens from their homes; those who make numerous phone calls for the lovely theme baskets; those who provide a seasonal craft project for the children of the parish; those that cook the wonderful meal everyone enjoys; and those who stay and help clean up after the breakfast.

There are so many wonderful people who are involved in the success of this breakfast—individuals were purposely not named , as there are so many who contribute, and we would not want to overlook anyone unintentionally. On behalf of the Social Action Committee, thank you all!! Our hope is that your summer is filled with joy, sunshine, and love!
