SCRIPTURE REFLECTIONS

The call of Jesus, “Repent, and believe in the Gospel,” is relevant in our lives today, both personally and

communally. While we may consider ourselves to be good Christians, there is always more that we can do to deepen our spiritual life. Even little things such as listening to religious music or reading a single Bible

verse each day can help. Communally, our shortcomings are well known. Poverty still exists in

our land. Abortion is still accepted by some. The death penalty is still accepted by some. Immigrants are often unwelcome. And the sick sometimes lack someone to

care for them. We are called to repentance here as well.

Gospel Question: In what ways do you

think time was fulfilled in Jesus?

DEATH OF A PARISHIONER John Michael Blommel, husband of Rita

Blommel, passed away peacefully on Saturday two weeks ago. The Blommels joined the parish slightly

more than ten years ago. His funeral, with burial thereafter, was Tuesday a week ago in Richmond.

Our prayers are with Rita.

ANGEL TREE MINISTRY Thank you to all who provide gifts to the

children of the Angel Tree Ministry. Once again your generosity and support for this program is

heart rendering. Connie Beverly, facilitator for the regional facility, expresses her deep appreciation for your

support. I want to thank Richard Cox for the assorted handcrafted animal wood pull toys he made and Teresa

Reamy for donating many children's books & toys. These additional toys not only went to this ministry but also supported the Toys for Tots program. We are truly blessed to see, all year through, the generosity, love and

support form our parishioners and their families. Lynne Dreelin

USHERS NEEDED As announced last Sunday, we need usher help, not only for February, when many people will

be on vacation, but permanently. This is a Ministry for women and men, so please

consider joining it. If you desire to become one you get to wear a shiny gold nametag; please talk to Tom Shoemaker.

CARE NOTE CHATTER

Dr. Albert Ellis wrote “if we can let go of unrealistic expectations, we can reduce our frustration level, avoid anger much of the time, and diffuse what anger does occur. For more information on Anger, see the care note, “DEALING WITH ANGER”, In the care note section, at the back of the church, between the two sets of glass

doors. Feel free to take one home or give to a friend.

PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
