HISTORY OF KAVALA The history of Kavala starts from prehistoric times

and extends so far. Reports that the one lost in epic narratives and the other recorded in the Athenian Alliance files. On the one hand the city became world famous for the arrival of the democratic forces of the Roman Empire in view of the historic battle of Philippi and the other for the arrival of the Apostle Paul, making Neapolis (modern Kavala) first European city that accepted Christianity. The Kavala geographically located in Eastern Macedonia. The city of Kavala is built at the foot of the mountain symbol and is the third big city of Macedonia. The permanent population of the city reaches 54 027 inhabitants according to the 2011 census, the total population of the municipality of Kavala is around 70 501 inhabitants. Also there was founded the first Christian church on European soil.

The Arches was the Aqueduct of Kavala. It was built in 1520-1530 by the Grand Vizier Ibrahim Pasha. Suleiman Khan brought to the city Abu Hayat (water of life) carrying it from one mountain source. This part is called Panagia.In this area is the castle of Kavala. The Kavala Castle is

Leisure and Environment Kavala though modern urban center, has

numerous beaches, places for rest and walks. It is one of the few cities of Greece into the urban fabric has 4 equipped beaches. West, Beach Rapsani, the municipal beach Kalamitsa and multiplex Batis. Then Batis if you follow this route you will find the wonderful organized unorganized great small beaches of Palio and then Iraklitsa and Peramos.
