The previous superintendent for South Central Community Schools, Christopher Smith of South Central has significant teaching experience. From 1986-1999, Christopher Smith of South Central taught physical education and health at Angola Middle School. Before this, Christopher Smith of South Central taught physical education to grades K-fifth at Carlin Park Elementary and Hendry Park Elementary Schools. Christopher Smith of South Central gained his student teaching experience as a high school physical education teacher while attending Ball State University.

Christopher Smith of South Central and his wife have two children, a thirteen year old son and a sixteen year old daughter. Both children of Christopher Smith of South Central enjoy sports, following their father’s footsteps as a coach and physical education teacher. Christopher Smith of South Central values the time he is able to spend with his family.

his public speaking skills. Christopher Smith of South Central is a professional speaker, having spoken at many different conferences and events. Christopher Smith of South Central spoke at Franklin Community High School about Professional Learning Communities in 2008. In addition, Christopher Smith of South Central spoke at Norwell High School in 2007 about Professional Learning Communities and Interventions. In 2003, 2004, and 2005, Christopher Smith of South Central spoke at the Indiana Middle Level Education Association State Conference.
