Christmas Syllable Sort 1, 2, and 3 syllable words

• Christmas syllable counting cards • Stocking syllable counting EPR cards (1 per student) • Christmas themed container or bag • 3 stockings with numerals 1, 2, and 3 on them • Clothespins

To play: • Place the cards in a Christmas themed container or bag. • Students take turns pulling one card out of the container. • All students stomp out or use duck lips to segment and count the syllables in the words. • Students clip their clothespins on the EPR sheet. • Check for accuracy and model as needed. • Have student who pulled the card place on the stocking with the correct number of

syllables.
