• 1 pair 4.00mm (UK 8) knitting needles and two 4.00mm double-pointed needles or size needed to give correct tension.

• wool needle for sewing seams.

TensionThis stocking has been designed at a tension of 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm needles and Magnum yarn. To work a tension square, using 4.00mm needles and Magnum yarn, cast on 33 sts. Work 44 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely. Check your tension carefully. If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

Loop (i-cord)Using two 4.00mm double-pointed needles and C1, cast on 5 sts.1st row – Knit, do not turn.Slip sts back to other end of needle. Pulling yarn firmly across back of work, rep 1st row. Cont working each row in the same direction until cord measures 15cm.Break off yarn and thread end through sts, draw up tightly and fasten off securely.

To Make UpNote – We recommend using mattress stitch and Magnum to sew up your stocking.DO NOT PRESS. Join side and foot seams, matching stripes. Attach i-cord to back seam of stocking forming a loop, as pictured.

Side One and TwoWork as for Stocking with 2 colour stripes, working in stripes of 4 rows each C1, C2 and C3 throughout, and using C4 for Top.
