Christmas Cookies Written by Aaron Barker. Recorded by George Strait in 1999, and by 2002 it was listed as # 33 on

the country charts during the Christmas season. For an "alternate" version, visit

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZ0U4x2dUSQ&feature=g-upl . That's where you'll find a

duet called Pickin & Grinnin (Stan Paregien Sr and Stan Jr) doing a "fun" version they created

on Nov. 24, 2012.

Chorus :

[D] I sure do like those Christmas cookies sugar.

I sure do like those Christmas cookies [A] babe.

The [D] ones that look like [D7] Santa Claus,

[G] Christmas trees and bells and stars.

I [D] sure do like those [A] Christmas cookies [D] babe.

1. Now Christmas cookies are a special treat.

The [G] more she bakes the more I eat.

And [A] sometimes I can't get myself to [D] stop.

Sometimes she'll wait til I'm asleep

And [G] she'll take the ones that I didn't eat

And [A] put those little sprinkley things on [D] top.

2. Now those sprinkley things just make things worse

Cause it [G] makes em taste better than they did at first.

And [A] they're absolutely impossible to re- [D] sist.

Some disappear to who knows where,

But [G] I make sure I get my share.

And those [A] kids just stand there waiting for the ones I [D] miss.

3. Now there's a benefit to all of this

That you [G] might have overlooked or missed.

So [A] now let me tell you the best part of it [D] all.

Every time she sticks another batch in the oven

There's [G] fifteen minutes for some kissin' and huggin'.

That's [A] why I eat Christmas cookies all year [D] long.

Everyone dancing merrily in the new old fashioned [C] way.

TAG: In the . . new . . . old . . . fash...ioned . . . way.

I thought I'd keep it as a pet, and let it sleep with me.

I made my snowman some pajamas, and a pillow for his head.

But Last night my snowman ran away, but first he wet the bed.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Words & Music by Johnny Marks. Copyrighted 1949; renewed 1977. In 1939 Robert L. May, a

copywriter for Montgomery Ward department stores, created a storybook to give away to the store’s

customers. He set out to create a character that had a physic al quirk, because he himself had been teased

as a child because he was small. His storybook about an animal who was, well, different . . . was a bit

hit. Over the next seven years, Montgomery Ward stores gave away 6 million copies. Robert May’s

brother-in-law, Johnny Marks, was a well-known song writer. He developed lyrics and music about the

story. And cowboy singer Gene Autry, who in his day was as popular as any rock star, recorded it in

1949. It appeared as an animated story on TV in 1964. By the way, reindeer can accelerated quickly to

40 mph and they tend to jump, which makes them look like they are going to fly. Male reindeer lose

their antlers before Christmas time, so those in the story and in most photos of Santa are female reindeer.

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,

Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen

But do you recall . . . the most famous reindeer of all?

[C] Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny [G] nose.

And if you ever saw it, you would even say it [C] glows.

All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him [G] names.

They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer [C] games. [C7]

[F] Then one foggy [C] Christmas Eve,

[G] Santa came to [C] say:

[G] "Rudolph, with your nose so bright,

[D] won't you guide my [G] sleigh tonight?"

[C] Then how the reindeer loved him,

As they shouted out with [G] glee:

"Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer,

You'll go down in his - to - [C] ry!"

BIG ENDING: [G] You'll go down in his - to - [C] ry!"
