Christmas Blessings,The PennDel Family
Mer y Christmas f om the Tourvil e Grandkids
Christmas is that time of year when we are reminded of the gift of friends and family and the joy that these relationships bring to our lives This year we’ve asked our ‘PennDel Family’ to share the special recipes and favorite ideas that have become a part of their Christmas traditions in the trendy, online format of Pinterest© These ‘pins’ will be displayed throughout this issue with a picture and brief description, as well as a link to the PennDel Pinterest© page at pinterest.com/penndelag where you can find the entire description and/or directions Be sure to check in online and let us know if you’ve tried our favorites and which ones you like best!
every year i look forward to our family Christmas pageant Having 12 members in our family, this year our Christmas pageant will recount how elijah challenged the prophets of Baal (i Kings 18) after their god failed to send fire, elijah piled 12 rocks to build an altar, pored water over the sacrifice, and God sent fire to consume the sacrifice
The Tourville 12 are going to build an altar with 12 rocks to represent our talents and challenges We will ask God to send the fire of the Holy Spirit to accept our lives for greater service in 2013
Christmas is a time of celebration, giving and receiving of gifts, food, fun and fellowship it is a time to enjoy ourselves and one another in the wholesome activities of acknowledg-ing and rejoicing in the coming of our Messiah, jesus Christ
The first Christmas morning was very different Surrounded only by Mary and joseph, animals and later the arrival of shepherds, there was little commotion or acclamation from outsiders one would have thought that the birth of the God-man would have been announced in no uncertain terms, heralded by the news media of the day and shouted from the housetops about this glorious birth This was to be the great-est news possible and the focal point of all history
But, no! God seldom does things the way we do rather, the birth of the Christ child was told to a select few Scholars had a few clues, but none figured it out This baby was hidden in plain sight insignificant and unknown, He came to live among us Small, vulnerable, anonymous, concealed from view but He came in God’s perfect time The Son of God did not come as a celebrity or with great acclamation
Many times we fail to grasp the when, why and how of God in our personal lives just as the people of jesus’ day missed His coming God is mysterious in so many ways, but He always knows what He is doing, and He does all things well. You may not understand the mysterious ways of God in your life or that of your family and friends God’s ways are not our ways When you can’t under-stand, put your trust in Him He does all things well May we celebrate this mysterious God “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth ” john 1:14

Our
Mer y Christmas f om the Tourvil e Grandkids
I can still hear those unforgettable words from my friend, Pastor Jay House, as he said, “Pastor Rich, we’re going to close the church but don’t worry, we’re going to give you the building!”
Our church, Cornerstone Fellowship was planted 25 years ago and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Wormleysburg has been our rented home since 2004. It’s a lovely traditional building with two complete sanctuaries, classrooms, offices, and kitchen facilities. Cornerstone Fellowship and St. Paul’s had a relationship that went beyond the tenant-landlord relationship. Together we have upgraded the build-ing and have served the community in various ways.
Earlier this year, after 200 years of ministry, St. Paul’s decided to disband. In the midst of this decision, Pastor House, the congregation and the denominational leadership made the amazing decision to donate their building to Cornerstone Fellowship. We are so grateful for their generosity! There is a backstory to this act of generosity.
Cornerstone Fellowship had hosted a short-term mission’s trip to Nairobi, Kenya where we held medical and children’s outreaches and built a dormitory for a local church that cares for orphans. Our team, our church, and other individuals raised all the funds to build this facility.
When we returned home from our mission’s trip I had promised the Kenyan’s that we would raise money to expand a private school, and send more money to buy a new sound system for a local church. Our church raised the funds and sent the money.
Shortly after that, I received a call from one of our friends in Scranton, PA that their church plant had an option to buy a building and were asking if we could help them raise the money for a down payment. My first reaction was fear. I had a fear to approach our congregation and ask for more money after we had raised so much for the Kenyan churches.
When Sunday came, I went before the congregation and reported the opportunity that had been shared with me. Then I said, “I know that we need our own building, and we have sown into Kenyan churches 7000 miles away, but based on the Scriptures we are going to take an offering for the Scranton Church.”
I read from Proverbs 11:24,
The Spirt of Giving
There is one who scatters, and yet increases al the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.
4 CONNEXIONS 4TH QTR 2012
The Spirt of GivingThe Offering was amazing! A spirit of giving had broken in on us. Just one week after sending the offering to the Scranton church I pulled up to our church and was greeted by Pastor Jay House. Little did we know that as God had spoken to our hearts to give, God had also been speaking to St. Paul’s UMC. He said that he had something impor-tant that he needed to talk about, that’s when he said, “…we’re going to give you the building.”
It is hard to put into words the powerful emotions that we feel. Our amazement that God spoke to the congregation of St. Paul’s UMC on our behalf. The deep gratitude in our hearts to these wonderful people to give what they had invested their lives in for years. We have been blessed by their generous gift.
So, during this Christmas season, may the Lord bless you in ways that you could not even imagine and fill your hearts and church with a spirit of giving to bless others!
There is one who scatters, and yet increases al the more, And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.

i just wanted to give you the good report of the launch of our new victory campus in Newtown Square at Delaware County Christian School
With the help from the District and the National Church Multiplication Network we were able to borrow $50,000 for marketing and startup costs From those funds we were able to mail 4 different postcard invitations to 50,000 households over the last 4 weeks We also conducted pre-launch outreaches at a community parade and fair
i am happy to report that we had 310 this past Sunday approximately 200 guests joined us for our grand opening We met several people who expressed thanks as they received the invitations that a church was coming into their area that they could attend We believe this area is “ripe unto harvest” and that many more are to follow
Thank you for your prayers and support We look forward to telling you the great stories of salvation, healing and growth in the days to come from Newtown Square

There are a million reasons for us to have taken on this challenge Some of the poor people in the world are poor because they made bad decisions Most of the people in the world who are poor are poor because they were born in the wrong latitude There are a million reasons to help them, but i just want to give you the one reason that matters the most and that is when
we love the poor, we’re really loving Him! jesus said the kind of worship i love the most is when you love the least of these
rabbi jeff Friedman is loving the least of these through jacob’s Hope and The Hope Center PennDel is partnering with jacob’s Hope to purchase an existing warehouse in israel and transform it into The Hope Center The Hope Center will be a multipurpose facility to help the poor struggling jewish people it will be a central distribution center where food,
clothing, medical supplies, and household goods are gathered for shipment to the needy across israel it will be a place of job training, teaching immigrants job skills so they can secure employment it will be a place of worship for Messianic congrega-tions that have no other place to meet it will be a place where young israelis can gather in a non-threatening environment and learn about the Messiah To help, contact Dave Crosby Sr at 717-795-5921

Christmas is such a special time of year as we mark the
advent of our Savior i am reminded of so many things:
Christmas carols, dinners and parties with family and friends,
and gifts (my favorite!) Most importantly, i am mindful that
our Savior’s birth, indeed His whole life, was for the mission
of “seeking and saving that which is lost” (luke 19:10) This
Christmas i am thankful that God found us when we were
lost, and that He continues to give the greatest gift by reconcil-
ing the world to himself through jesus Christ May you have a
blessed and renewing season of celebrating our Savior’s birth!
The Name of Jesus “Lee and I have celebrated twelve Christmases together and I’ve loved every one. This year, I didn’t feel like setting up the nativity. Again. For the thirteenth time. Only to have a great dane’s tail take out a wise man in one swoosh. So, I decorated our mantle with the many names of Jesus. Our guests will still be able see His name be glorified, but my little baby Jesus figurine will enjoy a year without dog drool!”

“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace ” isaiah 9:6
in this scripture, the prophet isaiah defines three functions of who Christ is
1 He came as a child (the innocence and purity of a newborn)
2 He is the Son of man and Son of God (Son – one who is connected to the Father genetically - in the very essence of; the relationship can never be renounced)
3 He has the management of (in control of; able to see the end results) the world in His hands
at Christmastime, our world wants to paint everything a beautiful dream The reality is that only through our real Christmas Gift – jesus Christ, the Savior – do we have the true Christmas spirit

Dear Friends,
Christmas is one of the happiest times of the year. The angels sang with joy, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” Luke 2: 9, 13, 14.
Recently I read, “Glory is one of the richest terms in the theological vo-cabulary of the Bible...” The scriptures declare that “the glory of the Lord shone around them...” John tells us, “We beheld His glory, glory as the only son from the Father.” The life of Jesus was radiant with the focused presence of the glory of God. The scriptures tell us, “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” The presence of Christ in each of us is God’s hope for reveal-ing His presence to the world. It is also the foundation for our hope for a home in God’s final glory, Heaven!
May you and your family have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
