When is Christmas Day? The 25th of December is Christmas Day.
Is it a happy holiday? It’s a happy holiday for a lot of people in
different countries.
Why are people busy some weeks before Christmas?
Some weeks before Christmas English people are busy. They send greeting cards to all their relatives and friends.
Where can people get Christmas cards? You can buy Christmas cards or you can
make them. A lot of children make their cards at school.
How do people decorate a Christmas tree?
People buy a Christmas tree and decorate it with toys, colored balls and little colored lights.
Where do people put Christmas presents? People put their presents under the tree.
Where do children put their stockings when they go to bed?
When children go to bed, they put their stockings near their beds.
Who comes at night?
At night Father Frost comes.
What does Father Frost bring?
He has got a big bag of presents for children.
Where does he put presents for children? He puts the presents into the children’s
stockings.
Where is there a big Christmas tree in London?
Every year there is a very big Christmas tree in the centre of London, in Trafalgar Square.
Who sends a big Christmas tree to Londoners?
This is a present from the people of Norway to the people of Great Britain. They send it to Londoners every year and Londoners decorate the Christmas tree.
Are the streets in London decorated? On Christmas Eve the streets in London
are decorated, too.
What do people buy for the Christmas parties?
People buy a lot of food and drink for all the Christmas parties.
When do people open their presents? People open their presents on Christmas
morning and they all are happy with what they get.
What do people wish their nearest and dearest?
On Christmas people wish their nearest and dearest a merry Christmas.
What do English people eat for Christmas?
For Christmas dinner people eat turkey, potatoes and green vegetables. Then they have the Christmas pudding. At five o’clock it’s time for tea and Christmas cake.
What is the day after Christmas? The day after Christmas is Boxing Day.
What do people usually do that day? People usually visit their relatives and
friends. They do not work on that day.
Do all people celebrate New Year? Not all English people celebrate New
Year.
When do they celebrate it? They celebrate New Year on the 31st
(thirty first) of December.
How do English people celebrate New Year?
They have a New Year party at home.
What do they wish their nearest and dearest?
On that day they wish their dearest and nearest a “Happy New Year”. When Big Ben strikes twelve they drink a toast to the New Year.

English and American people often make New Year’s resolutions.
What New Year’s resolutions are for children?
Children make New Year’s resolutions, too. They are going:
- to help mum about the house;
- to be nice to a litter sister or a brother;
- to do exercises every morning;
- not to be late for school.
What New Year’s resolutions are for Mums and Dads?
Mums aren’t going to eat chocolates, bread or spaghetti. Dads are going to play tennis every day.
