The Knights of Columbus are hosting their annual I.D. Drive this weekend, January 11-2 at St. William. Members will be handing out Tootsie Rolls at the doors following all Masses seeking donations in support of individuals with intellectual dis-abilities.

After Jesus was baptized, he saw the Spirit of God de-scending like a dove and a voice was heard “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” As we give to the poor, we also can hear these same words. Have you considered joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that you can live your Baptism more fully?

Seek refuge in the name

of the Lord

As Jesus came out of the baptismal waters, the Holy Spirit descended upon him and a voice from the heavens was heard saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” In joining himself to humanity, Jesus opened the heavens for us, and in doing so, was con-firmed in his mission of mercy and love. In baptism, we are joined with Christ. Immersed into his life and

love, his mission is our mission. It is still early in this new year. Today, reflect on your baptismal call to live as a member of Christ’s body. In what ways do you love God and others? In what ways might you grow as a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ? How are you living the mis-sion of Christ, to make God’s love and mercy known in the world? Is Christ’s mission your mission?

RESOLVE THIS YEAR TO BECOME A BEREAVEMENT COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER!

The Bereavement Committee will meet on Sunday, January 26th at 9:30 am in the Foley Center to determine our guidelines for providing meals following a funeral at St. William. (The Bereavement Committee is no longer a part of the Altar Sodali-ty.) The members of this committee will assist in preparing and/or securing the food, setting up, serving, and cleaning up following the event. We need men and women to become a part of this special ministry, a corporal act of mercy, in order to con-tinue to give families a place to gather and share a meal at this difficult time. (Men are especially needed to set up/break down tables and chairs.) Many hands are needed for our parish to continue this ministry. Please contact Sandy Whitaker at [email protected] or 256-506-5746 if you have any questions.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
