Our New Parish Website:!ctkworc.org!

!

We want you to take note of our new website and its many mod-ern features. All diocesan parishes were asked to create new websites in a collaboration with eCatholic and Flocknotes. It is part of a diocesan initiative to create better communications and evangelization through the use of more modern technology. And communications will be more instantaneous. You can find our new website by going to ctkworc.org. Try it today! We urge you to sign up for Flocknotes (free, of course) by providing your name, email address and mobile phone at the bottom of the home page.!

PLEASE GIVE TO!

Partners in Charity!!308 Donors So Far = 34% of Our Families!

!

The goal for the Diocese this year is $5 million again. This vital campaign supports all 28 charitable, educational and ministry programs of the Diocese. It’s the responsibility of all of us to help with these important ministries. It is Christ’s work and we should all be partners in Christ’s work. All the money that is raised supports diocesan programs for the entire year ahead. !!

Donor envelopes can be found in the book rack in the foyer. Please be as generous as you possibly can and return the enve-lope in next week’s collection or through the mail or by dropping it off at the rectory. Your gift will help the Diocese implement its essential charitable, pastoral and educational works. Thank you!!

Congratulations for ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’!!!

Congratulations to all those CYC members who performed in or otherwise supported last weekend’s very successful production of Jesus Christ Superstar! We thank all those generous parents and adults who lent their talents as musicians and advisors. The names of all in the cast, production, “pit” and in other supportive roles are far too many to mention. But we want you to know our gratitude. This is a production made possible only through the generous efforts of many, including the supportive donations of parishioners and friends in the community. Many thanks to all!!

From the Desk of Monsignor Tom!!!

My dear fellow parishioners,!!

As we get older, we find ourselves caring for loved ones who are sick. At some point, virtually all of us do this. Sometimes the condition of the sick person improves. In other circumstances our personal care and attentiveness stretches for years. The sick person may be weakened by age but there’s no terminal illness. At other times, the sick person is actively dying. It’s in those times we often experience beautiful conversations between a dying person and ourselves. You hear “I love you” a lot. To the ones being left behind, we hear: “Stay close to one another. Look after each other. Love each other.” When any person you love knows they have a short time to live...they want to tell you what’s in their heart. We listen to their words with absolute at-tention, aware that these may be their final words to us. And you know that your presence brings someone a lot of peace.!

!

Near the end of the Easter season each year, we hear Jesus speak some final words, a kind of ‘last will and testament.’ They come the night before he dies that he tells his closest friends the last things He wants them to know. “Remain in me as I remain in you. I am the vine, you are the branches.” He’s saying, if we want to live, really live, we need to be grafted onto Him.!!

Fish need an ocean to survive. We humans need air on earth. For the spiritual life, Jesus says, “You need me. Unless you re-main in me, you have no life in you!” To have life spiritual life eternal life we have to remain connected to the source of life. You and I were created to live in a relationship with God and until we find that relationship there’s always something missing in life.!!

Many people who have success in the world and have lots of money often find emptiness deep inside. They might try to fill the emptiness with drugs, excess alcohol or uncommitted sex. But they’re not happy. Others try to fill themselves with hard work, music, sports, not bad things, but find those things don’t satisfy the deep hunger either. God is the only one who can satis-fy our deepest human hungers and Jesus tells us that He is the way to God.!!

At some point everyone asks the question, “What am I doing on earth?” Until we’re living in a relationship with God we don’t find the true purpose of life. Other things may provide passing satisfaction, but that satisfaction doesn’t last.!!

Only in God do we find our purpose. Only in Jesus Christ do we find eternal life. For our relationship with God, which starts now, survives death and goes on into eternity. Jesus asks: “Do you want eternal life?” Here’s what you have to do: “Stay con-nected to me. Graft yourself on to me.”!!
