Dear Friends in Christ, I want to share what I believe to be great wisdom that I heard from a friend. When you are truly grateful for something, you don’t just tell people that you are thankful, but you actually do stuff to take care of it. What other examples of taking steps to show gratude and value of something could you think of? In Colossians 3:15, Paul encourages us to take care of the peace that Christ delivers to us through faith. He concludes verse 15 with the encouragement to be thankful. Verses 16-17, if you are watching for it, are nothing more than steps to take in order to take care of the peace that comes with knowing Christ. It is not enough to just talk about it! Instead, dwell in the Word and let it dwell in you. Don’t go to church, read the Bible, think of someone to pray for, and then forget about it. Take acon to let those things soak in and impact your life. He reminds us that we should also be interacng with each other concerning the Word. It is mighty difficult to teach and admonish one another in regard to the Word if we don’t know it. So, Paul adds that we could be singing the Word via hymns, the Psalms and other Spiritual songs. Finally, we can enjoy lots of pracce with taking steps to protect and foster our peace, because we can do it with what- ever we are doing! It’s as if God really expects our habits, rounes, preferences, and lives to change when we know Jesus. He does. And those things will change. Can you imagine what would happen to our congregaon if we all took steps to take care of the peace that God has given to us? I’m sure it would be more than we could ask or imagine. That is just how good God is, and how perfectly He delivers His giſts! May you take steps to take excellent care of the peace and salvaon that God has given to you through faith in Jesus! Dear Friends in Christ,

I want to share what I believe to be great wisdom that I heard from a friend. When you are truly grateful for

something, you don’t just tell people that you are thankful, but you actually do stuff to take care of it. If you

are grateful for your car, you change the oil, check the tires, and wash it. If all you do is talk about how thank-

ful you are, but never take action, your car will eventually fall apart. What other examples of taking steps to

show gratitude and value of something could you think of?

In Colossians 3:15, Paul encourages us to take care of the peace that Christ delivers to us through faith. He concludes verse 15 with the

encouragement to be thankful. Verses 16-17, if you are watching for it, are nothing more than steps to take in order to take care of the

peace that comes with knowing Christ. It is not enough to just talk about it! Instead, dwell in the Word and let it dwell in you. Don’t go

to church, read the Bible, think of someone to pray for, and then forget about it. Take action to let those things soak in and impact your

life. He reminds us that we should also be interacting with each other concerning the Word. It is mighty difficult to teach and admonish

one another in regard to the Word if we don’t know it. So, Paul adds that we could be singing the Word via hymns, the Psalms and other

Spiritual songs. Finally, we can enjoy lots of practice with taking steps to protect and foster our peace, because we can do it with what-

ever we are doing!

It’s as if God really expects our habits, routines, preferences, and lives to change when we know Jesus. He does. And those things will

change. Can you imagine what would happen to our congregation if we all took steps to take care of the peace that God has given to us?

I’m sure it would be more than we could ask or imagine. That is just how good God is, and how perfectly He delivers His gifts!

May you take steps to take excellent care of the peace and salvation that God has given to you through faith in Jesus!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Grunklee

OUTOUTOUT

by Betsy Fischer,

Director

Wow! It is hard to believe 2014 is coming to an end. This

past year, PDO has been blessed in many ways. We have

wonderful members who continue to support us with mone-

tary donations and needed supplies. PDO has a special group

of church members who volunteer their time to read to our

students. (The students really enjoy this reading time!) Our

program is truly blessed with two caring, energetic, and lov-

ing teachers. (I am most thankful for this blessing!) What a

great way for our church to reach out to families with small

children. The students are also excited that Pastor Grunklee

continues to lead us in chapel and music. This is a great min-

istry that the church supports.

The teachers and I know that 2015 will bring just as many

blessings and more! We hope you have a safe and restful

holiday!

Greetings and God's peace to all from your Lubbock Chapter

Leadership Board for Thrivent Financial. As we approach

Thanksgiving and the Season of Advent, we extend our best

wishes for a safe and joyous celebration of the gifts we enjoy in

this Nation and even more importantly the gift of the tiny baby

born in Bethlehem whose life, death and resurrection brought

hope to all mankind who believe and trust in Him. We remind

all members of Thrivent to designate Choice Dollars to their

congregation, a school or other non-profit registered with

Thrivent. This is another of God's gifts to be used to help the organization you

choose. May His blessings overflow for you and your family throughout this special

HOLY LAND ON THE

HORIZON!

Only 134 days (from Dec. 1) until we leave on the trip of a life time! Several months ago I sent an invitation to join me on this trip. Now

it is time to really get in the mood. If you do not already have a passport, it is time to get the process going. Also, If you already have a passport, make sure it will be valid for 6 months from the date of departure (April 14, 2015). So far, all of the updates re-ceived from Educational Opportunities Travel (EO) on the situation in the Holy Land have indicated that there is no problems in the areas that we will be visiting. In fact, they have continued sending Tours since the current turmoil started. You must be registered by December 30, 2014 in order to take advantage of the travel protec-tion that EO offers. Final payment for the trip is due by February 13, 2015. If you are interested in going, please call me, Sherry Herzog, at 787-9460 or email me at [email protected].
