BY THE WAY •.•

• Today, Easter Sunday, is the principal liturgical moment of the entire Church year, its most important feast when we commemorate the Resurrection of Christ from the dead. Liturgically, every Sunday of the year is envisioned as a "little Easter." For the next fifty days, in the readings and prayers of its liturgy, the Church will draw out the Easter mystery in all its fullness, culminating with the Solemnity of Pentecost on the fiftieth day of the Easter Season.

Congratulations to the two women, Miranda Meador, and Anna Michaca, who were welcomed into the Catholic faith through the waters of Baptism at the Easter Vigil.

Congratulations to the seven other men and women, Dennis Herandez, Patrick Noyes, Raquel Pisacreta, Frank Reyes, Anthony Sherry, William Woodruff, who were sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit in Confirmation at the Easter Vigil.

Thanks you to all the staff and volunteers of the parish who have done so much to help all of us celebrate the Holy Week liturgies.

On behalf of Father Roberto and myself, Happy Easter to all of you!

• The annual Novena in honor of our patron saint, Saint Anthony of Padua, will begin on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 P.M.

• I will be leading a 13-day Faith Vacation this Fall to Southern Spain, including Toledo, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Malaga and Gibralter. The price is $3,698. For more information and flier, call the rectory.

• The 36th Annual Saint Anthony's Feast is only ten weeks away. During the past year a number of our "regular" cooks have experienced various ailments and injuries, and thus, corps of cooks needs to be beefed up. The cooking for the Feast will be this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 28-29-30) from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. in the school cafeteria. If you can spare a few hours to help out, it would be greatly appreciated.

• For some twenty years, the San Giuseppe Santa Croce Camerina Society held their annual procession and Mass in honor of their patron, Saint Joseph on the Sunday near his feastday at Saint Anthony's. Originally, the Mass was at Saint Anthony's Church in Paterson near the group's clubhouse. When the society bought a new clubhouse on Wagaraw Road in Hawthorne, the feast moved to our church. In the past year, the society has sold the Wagaraw Road clubhouse, and this year they rented the parish hall at Saint Gerard Majella Church in Paterson for their Saint Joseph's Table, and held the Mass there. We will miss their festive presence each year and ask Saint Joseph to continue to bless them and their families.

• Prayers for Easter

Lord our God, by the resurrection of your Son, you have forever illumined the world. Through the power of your Spirit, grant that those who still sit in darkness

and in the shadow of death, may be born anew and that your light may shine on them for ever and ever. Amen.

God, help us to get to church today with minimal fuss and fighting, with everyone dressed and ready to pray, with all our bags packed, prepared for anything. And if the kinds get fussy and distracted, Please let there be a song to soothe them, a color window to enchant them, and kind pew mates to accept our flaws. Amen.

A Blessed Easter to

Father Ray

FAITH FORMATION

EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

First Reading: Acts 10:34a, 37-43 Peter discusses Jesus' life of preaching and healing. Jesus was crucified, and then he rose up and was seen by his chosen witnesses. Peter also mentions the importance of all the disci-ples bearing witness to what they saw, so that many people would believe in Jesus, and have their sins forgiven through him.

Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4 Paul asserts that we must pay attention to higher realms rather than earthly concerns. Our life is not yet completely known to us, until Christ appears and we are raised to glory in him.

Gospel: John 20:1-9 When Mary Magdalene discovered Jesus' tomb was open, she told Simon Peter and another disciple. They ran to the tomb and Peter went inside. He found the burial wrappings on the ground, with the head covering separate from the rest. The other disciple came in and they believed what they saw, alt-hough until then they had not understood the Scripture's mes-sage of Jesus' resurrection

Join us in praying our annual novena in honor of our patron St. Anthony beginning Tuesday April 12th, and continuing each Tuesday evening through June 9th, at 7:30 PM.

Religious Education

Ministries & Organizations

Prayer Group will not meet this Monday, at 7 PM in the chaplaincy center. Thank You!

We're looking for a few good Catholic men. We meet every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 7:30PM at the St. An-thony’s School Library. If you are interested in joining the Knight's please contact Kevin Duffy at 201-956-3272. The Knights of Columbus, and the Holy Name Society are two long-time organizations for men in our parish. Both groups are in need of rejuvenation. Both groups have long played an active role in many aspects of the life of our parish, often providing muscle and money for many different projects of outreach efforts. But in order to continue to participate at that level, they need the energy and the talents of a new generation of Catholic men. The history of the Knights of Columbus, has been a long and glorious chapter in the life of the American Church and the Universal Church.
