Experience
• Both Blue Collar and White Collar Experience.
• Completed my Motor Mechanics Apprenticeship with Mercedes Benz and Attended Advanced Technician
training at Mercedes Benz Australia in Melbourne,
• Worked for 7 years at JMJ Fleet Management/GE Capital Fleet Services working up from Victorian
Government Acquisitions and Disposals officer to National Auction and Assessment Manager in Australia.
• Lived and Worked on Hamilton Island for almost 2 years working as a dive boat skipper/tour guide
(coxswain) and also working for The Moorings looking after the maintenance and repair of the charter yacht
fleet. This also included briefing customers on the area and familiarizing them with their chosen vessel.
Emergency break down repairs and rescues via the company chase boat was also part of the every day
responsibility.
• Work at sea started off in catering as a steward on the Pearl River for Dredging International. I soon worked
for other dreging companies in Australia and quickly worked my way into the engine room and quite literally
started at the bottom and just kept working up.
• I put myself through the Marine Engineer Class 3 training at college and I was soon picked up again by my
old dredging companies..ie Van Oord, Boskalis and Dredging International only now as a 2nd Engineer.
• After some time and various projects I was finally offered a Traineeship by Boskalis to get my Diploma in
Marine Engineer Watchkeeping. I completed my training on the following vessels while working on major
infrastructure projects such as –Melbourne Channel Deepening, Fremantle harbour, Gorgon LNG Terminal at
Barrow Island for Chevron, etc and a couple of dry docks in Singapore
o Vessels:
o TSHD Cornelis Zanen
o TSHD Queen of the Netherlands
o CSD Taurus II
• After completing my traineeship with Boskalis I continued to work for them as a 2nd Engineer on the TSHD
Gateway and finished all of the projects they had in Australia. I then sailed the TSHD Gateway to Guaymas
Mexico and continued working there for a brief period.
• I then worked for Van Oord on the TSHD Rotterdam (DP1 class) and completed a Port expansion project for
Rio Tinto in Cape Lambert Western Autralia. We then sailed to Brisbane for a 2 week dry dock before joining
and completing the huge Gladstone LNG Terminal and Harbour project.
• I was then offered a job with Dredging International as a 2nd Engineer on TSHD Breydel where we completed
the Wheatstone project for Chevron and Bectel.
• From there I then joined Skilled Offshore (Later taken over by Programmed Marine) where I worked as a 2nd
Engineer on the DP3 Class PLV Castorone for Saipem ( At Over 330m long, it is the biggest Pipe Laying
Vessel in the world.)
• Working on projects for clients such as Rio Tinto, Chevron and Saipem etc has meant amalgamating the
Occupational Health and Safety procedures of both the employing company and the client. I have taken a
proactive approach to this and assisted vessels to become compliant to the client requirements and going
through both regular and random inspections. This involved becoming a regular member of on board and
project safety committees and updating/creating forms, permits, procedures and obtaining and organising on
board Safety Data Sheets etc.
• Now looking for new challenges and opportunities!
